SIDESWIPE was built to fight. He is sleek, fast, and single-minded in battle, focusing on his enemy with absolute attention. His blades are a shining blur in the air as he leaps through the air, twisting to avoid enemy fire. Converting from vehicle to robot at blinding speed, he uses every trick in the book to get close to his opponent, and put his powerful swords to work. Team up with this AUTOBOT ally and get ready to take on DECEPTICON forces! Unleash shifting battle armor courtesy of MECH ALIVE gearing in robot mode. And don't forget to deploy his fierce-looking "blades" for extra battle power! Then, with a few twists and turns, change the robot figure to a super sleek Corvette® Stingray concept car in vehicle mode -- and get ready to roll out! Detailed robot-to-vehicle figure features MECH ALIVE gearing for shifting battle armor -- and deployable "blades" in robot mode!

I'm not really into Transformers all that much, but that doesn't mean I don't like them. I was on a quick Transformers kick during which I picked up Sideswipe at my local Wal-mart, and he is pretty impressive. Like most Transformer figures, I had trouble transforming him at first, but after a few successes I was able to do it with relative ease. His feet are kind of weird because instead of having feet, he has wheels. I suppose you think this makes it pretty hard to stand him up, and you are correct sir and/or madam. However, once you get him to stand, it gets pretty easy to pull off some dynamic poses. Appearance wise Sideswipe looks pretty freaking cool. His vehicle mode is a Corvette with some good looking blue tinted windows, and a flat plastic silver which could have looked a...[See More]

I was able to pick Sideswipe here as a lucky break, the very last one on the pegs out of a sea of Mudflap's and Sideways' along with the Scout Class figure Scalpel which is another one I'll have to review. Anyway, back to Sideswipe, what we have here is a concept model Corvette StingRay, a car that is made of awesome. And metal and plastic, but mostly of awesome. It's dead on to the actual car with sleek lines and a low frame built for speed. Of course that low frame is the first weakness of the figure. In vehicle mode, it rides so low that if you try to roll it, you risk scratching the shoulders and knees of Sideswipe's robot mode which are stuffed up under the car. Still, it is a pretty mode to look at. The sideview mirrors are made of soft rubber, presumably so they won't break as...[See More]

So far one of 2 well known Generation 1 characters to be reintroduced in the new movie. He is a the prototype of the new Corvette Stingray. I'm actually fairly happy with this figure as the head is a much better sculpt that what they have been giving us. Sadly like most of the movie figures his hands aren't that impressive and weapons are next to non-existant with the only ones you get is a lame sword build into his arm. Missing is the shoulder mounted missiles of his G1 self and the flashy red paintjob has been replaced by the standard GM Silver they love to use. The articulation is fair although I still prefer the articulation from the Universe figures more. A nice touch is the "tinted" blue windows set up in the traditional stingray arrangement. Much like Bumblebee in the first movie...[See More]
