Born in a small village in South Africa, constant stomach pain was originally diagnosed as stomach cancer but turned out to be the manifestation of his mutant powers. Magneto helped extract two slug-like creatures that dwelt within Japheth's guts that were his digestive system (later named Eany and Meany). Maggott joined the X-men but then later left to explore his mutant abilities at the Massachusetts Academy. Maggott's stay at the Academy was brief and Maggott was later seen as a captive of Weapon X. He was killed in Neverland. He was later resurrected and then eventually made his way to Krakoa.
