The Orb, a enigmatic figure, embarked on various undisclosed assignments before joining Blackout II, Death-Ninja, and Doghead to confront Caretaker. Though initially believed to be killed by Caretaker, it was later revealed that the Orb survived but suffered severe eye trauma. He was later approached by Blackout and the Deacon to aid in an assassination plot against the Ghost Rider, and he eventually became associated with Zadkiel. In a climactic battle with the Ghost Riders, the Orb lost fingers from his left hand and was returned to prison as a cellmate of the paralyzed Deacon.

The second incarnation of the Orb was known for his incessant chatter and his claims of skill with a repulsor ray that rarely hit its target. He resurfaced during encounters with Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Deadpool, engaging in bank robberies and exhibiting an obsession with eyes as "windows to the soul." He even merged with one of the gouged-out eyes of Uatu the Watcher, gaining new abilities and becoming influenced by its power. However, his plans were disrupted by various adversaries, including Mordo and Dormammu.

During his tumultuous journey, the Orb experienced encounters with powerful individuals, engaged in criminal activities, and became entangled in the supernatural realm. His actions and transformations demonstrated his determination to pursue his own interests, even at the cost of others.
