This is my first post on this site I have been collecting and customising for years and never had anywhere to show them until now!!

I have quite a few figures that I'd like to share as and when I get round to doing the pictures LOL.

I will start with my latest work first though and it's Shipwreck from GI Joe taking me back to my childhood.

Well what can I say about this figure! Basically I had some parts lying around and I set myself a challenge, the body was just something cheap I'd brought off eBay a while back simply to be used as a mannequin for when I'm making clothes for figures Etc.

The plastic looked really cheap and horrible it very glossy and shiny so I used some Citadel purity seal or munitorum varnish as its now called, that took the sheen away I then used red pastel dust to try and blend it to match the head as much as possible and give it as much realism as possible.

The head, boots, and gloves were all won in job lots on eBay over the years which I never used.

I think the hat is a reproduction action man 40th anniversary? I can't remember

The shirt, trousers, belt, and wrist straps were all made and sewn by myself.

The arm logo's were designed by my wife I'm sure it's iron on vinyl? I think thats what she said anyway LOL (she makes t-shirts etc and has a cutting machine for logo's and designs)

The grapple hook is from playmobile which I added the string to.

He's just missing his parrot!!

I know the shirt should be a lighter blue and he had more of a beard but I had to work with what I had.

I also made the gun holster.

I'm all self taught from finding basic patterns to watching youtube videos and just lots of practice!! I've been sewing for years now and I'm still not brilliant LOL. It's basically trial and error if you have the time and patience. just search for sewing doll pants/trousers, shirts, etc and you'll find step by step tutorials on how to put stuff together. There's a channel called froggy stuff or something like that she does lots of good tutorials on how to make all kinds of stuff for dolls, figures etc.

Looks awesome! Did you find patterns to use for the clothes or make your own patterns?

I found some action man patterns on google a long time ago that I tweak a little here and there. But mainly I use 1/6 scale clothing I already have turn it inside out trace round it for a basic shape and size then tweak it by looking at sewing patterns on google images to see how the pattern should really look depending on what I'm making. Hope that makes sense LOL.
