This one is Rovo the Mighty Dog, canine companion to Mighty Boy II an alien hero from the planet Zumoor who appeared in Superboy Vol. I #85 (Dec, 1960). Both Mighty Boy and Rovo gained super powers from the yellow light of Zumoor's moon that are equivalent to those possessed by Superboy and Krypto. Mighty Boy and Rovo are originally from Earth and were launched to the distant planet Zumoor by Mighty Boy's scientist father when the small Caribbean Island they were vacationing on was about to be destroyed by a massive tidal wave (yeah, I know, MAJOR overkill). Mighty Boy and Rovo become friends with Superboy until it is revealed that direct physical contact with Superboy causes the pair to undergo amazing transformations, much the way that Superboy is transformed by exposure to Red Kryptonite.

To do this figure, I took a DC Direct Silver Age Krypto the Superdog from the Silver Age Superboy and Supergirl box set and used the boil and pop method to completely disassemble him. Next, I used my Dremel to gently remove the collar studs from his collar. After that, I used a little bit of Tamiya Putty White to fill in the cape symbol and sanded it smooth with some sandpaper. Next, I did a full repaint on the cape and collar with Testors Model Masters Napoleonic Violet for the collar and Testors Model Masters Insignia Yellow, followed by two generous coats of Flat Clear. With the collar and cape now drying, I took a Resin Dog head (not exactly sure what breed dog it was, I just looked for one that had a slight snout and pointed ears) and modded it to fit on the Krypto body and under the cape and collar. Once I was happy with the test fit, I commenced a full repaint of the body, legs, and head with Citadel Jokaero Orange, Testors Model Masters Flat White, and Testors Model Masters Flat Black, followed by two generous coats of Flat Clear. With all the paint work now completed, I reassembled the figure and glued the head in place with a little Crazy Glue, and TA-DA...Rovo the Mighty Dog, canine companion to Mighty Boy II, and friend to Superboy!!!
