When I'm not sculpting or building toys, I manage a comic book shop. Luckily my boss likes what I do in my spare time and allows me the freedom of building dioramas for the store. They always have themes. This one is called "Gamenight at the Batcave." A two story diorama, the first story houses a kitchen, garage, and a gaming area. Upstairs is a full area that's open, which gave Tim Drake the opportunity to setup his D&D game. In sight of the game sits Batman, who doesn't believe in having fun, so instead monitors Gotham and watches a classic movie. These dioramas are always fun to build and constantly change. I thought people on here might get a kick out of them. The construction of each is different. This one was built with foam core, bits from Muppets dios, and lots of little things from the fodder box. Please wait... |

I create custom dioramas and play-sets. Since I work part-time for a sign shop I get a lot of throw away materials. I've been thinking about using 4 inch diameter cardboard tubes for support pillars between the levels of the Batcave and the square plastic end caps to glue under the platforms to hold one end of the tube. Using 1 to 2 foot long tubes your could make play-sets from floor to ceiling in different size levels. All connected using the tubes as support pillars. Since they are cardboard you could texture them or wrap them in a printed graphic. Magnets could secure the bottom of the tubes to the platforms. Great work on this one.
