NECA Arcade TMNT Toon Repaints (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) Custom Action Figure
Custom #:84777
Name:NECA Arcade TMNT Toon Repaints
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Creator:TurtlesinTime
Date Added:August 15, 2016
Base Figure:NECA Arcade TMNT
Height:6.00 inches
The SDCC Exclusive TMNT Arcade themed figures by NECA have great sculpts, but were painted in a pixelated fashion to resemble their in-game appearance. I thought these sculpts resembled the original '87 toon turtles appearance quite well, so I decided to completely repaint the set of 4 in an attempt to capture their on-screen appearance from the 1987 TMNT cartoon. Toon Accurate TMNT.

What paint did you use, and what method? I want to try this too.

Did you disassemble them first?

They look absolutely amazing!

Thank you! No I didn't disassemble them, I thought about it would've made the painting easier, but I didn't wanna risk accidentally breaking any pieces.

Wow. These are great! You were definitely the person for the job. They look like they jumped off the screen. They resemble the cool art from the cartoon intro more than the cartoon itself, and that's a huge compliment! Bravo!

Thanks for the kind words! Yeah I agree they do look like the more serious turtles seen in the cartoon intro. I tried to match the colors as close as possible.

Thanks! Yeah that would be great if they did, but apparently there's some sort of licensing issue that prevents that.

Thank you! Yup, as soon as I saw the first pics of these figures online, I knew I wanted to get them just to repaint them, since the sculpts are very toon accurate!

Those do look extremely cartoon accurate. Even moreso than the recent Classics by Playmates and those other really expensive figures by a company I can't recall the name of.
