Brachiosaurus Jurassic Park III (Hasbro) - Electronic RE-AK A-TAK Rated 4.50 stars by Mr-X The Brachiosaurus, the long necked creature that once graced the Earth and shook the ground with every step. I can say it was partly made here, only partly.
One thing I will always dislike about the JP3 line is the fact everything’s tiny. They probably did it to save on money but cmon, why to all the good figures? The Brach is no exception, he’s tiny. I mean tiny, the LW figures are more then half his height. Now this would be fine with he was created to look like a hatchling but he wasn’t. His sculpt tells us he was meant to be all grown up. Though, even through all his flaws, he does have some cool features. He comes with a ghastly dino damage wound, looks like he got clawed well. In this wound he also has a button shaped and painted like a rib bone that when pressed causes him to put...[See More]
Raptor Attack Jurassic Park III (Hasbro) - Playsets Rated 5.00 stars by Mr-X Throughout the rather disappointing JP3 line, fans did get some really cool new stuff. This here, the only actual playset, is one of these things.
While all the human figures were shrunk down, this thing stayed perfect. Ill start off with the extras it comes with before I get to the actual playset.
It comes with two figures, Alan Grant and a Raptor. Grant is basically just a repaint of the basic figure. His shirt is now blue with tan pants. He also retains his movement, neck, shoulders, legs and knees.
The raptor is actually really cool. Its basic sculpt is in an attacking/lunging position. Its paintjob is perfect, a jungle green with brown stripes down its back. he also has yellow eyes and black iris's. He comes with an attack feature. Push down on the head and the head goes down and...[See More]
Billy Brennan & Pteranodon Jurassic Park III (Hasbro) - Humans Rated 4.00 stars by Mr-X The JP3 line could have come out really good, in had all the makings of a good line. Hasbro decided to ruin it though. All the humans were shrunk down along with the few vehicles so now the new figures didn’t make it much past the waists of the old figures. To many fans and myself, this was a major letdown.
Billy Brennan, Dr. Grant’s student assistant on his digs, comes at about 3 1/2 inches tall ,very short. He looks nothing like his movie counterpart. He comes with two things, a glider and a Pteranodon. Both are ok things, the glider is the right scale and fits onto his back via peg and hole. The Pterdnodon has been sculpted so that its legs can hook around Billy's arm and hold on to him.
Colors are ok. Billy comes wearing a sleeveless grey shirt and blue jeans. Over the grey shirt he...[See More]
Roland Tembo Jurassic Park - Chaos Effect (Kenner) - Humans Rated 4.00 stars by Mr-X Roland?!? What happened to you?!? Hasbro is messing with the good characters again.
Seriously, this guy is off, way off. Ok lets get it out of the way, he’s 5 inches and in a weird stance. His legs are bent and his arms are sculpted like he’s running, in that pumped position. What else could be wrong? He looks like a terminator. He comes in this high-tech armor and guess what his weapon is: a gattling gun. A GATTLING GUN!!!. What was Hasbro thinking...The gun is easy, load the shots in, spin the lever and they fire, not very well but they do. He also comes with an Ultimasaurus, something man made and ugly, period. The Ult. is sculpted in a lunging pose, typical.
The paintjob isnt bad, its nasty. Tembo comes wearing gold armor and a purple undershirt, odd? He also comes wearing green...[See More]
Ian Malcolm Jurassic Park - Chaos Effect (Kenner) - Humans Rated 4.50 stars by Mr-X The Chaos Effect branch of the JP series was a bit odd. The idea was pretty good but the colors and sculpts were a bit out there. Take for example Ian Malcolm who we will be reviewing here.
Malcolm stands at the JP height of 5 inches, he isn’t to short and so far so good. His sculpt though is odd. Don’t get me wrong, his body is good but his head looks nothing like Malcolm!!! Malcolm is a gruff, aging man, this guy looks like some collage kid fresh in the field. Anyhow, Malcolm comes with three things, a capture claw, body armor and a rex hatchling. The armors your standard deal, just pop it onto his cheat, pull out when your done. The claws the same way, it fits around his arm. Pull the rod sticking out the back, the claws open, let go and they close, simple. The rex has a good sculpt,...[See More]
Stegosaurus "Spike Tail" Jurassic Park - Lost World (Kenner) - Dino-Strike Rated 5.00 stars by Mr-X If more JP dino figures had been made like this, I bet they would have sold more. This guy is a perfect likeness to his movie counterpart and comes with cool details and capture gear.
From the bottom of his foot to the top of his biggest spike, the Steg stands about 7 inches tall. He comes with three points of interest, dino damage, capture gear and action. His dino damage is pretty big, consisting of of whole spike and a good inch of skin. The dino damaged spike is the first large spike on his right. His capture gear is cool to, consisting of a large metal box that snaps around his tail and a long metal wire that wraps around his legs. His action is another simple one, you squeeze two of the back spikes together and he swings his tail quite hard causing him to shake off the metal cage...[See More]
Pachycephalosaurus "Ram Head" Jurassic Park - Lost World (Kenner) - Dinos - Series 1 Rated 4.80 stars by Mr-X Again, here we are with more exaggeration on a figure. Its a good figure with a nice style and sculpt but he’s way to big. He’s almost as big as the Thrasher Rex and that things HUGE.
If I were to stand him straight up, though looking odd he’d be about ten inches tall, much bigger then most dinos. He comes with three things of interest though. One is his rammin power, push the head down till you hear it catch, push the button and the head flys out FAST. I did it to another JP human, those guys get some distance. Another thing is his "dino damage". By pulling on a small section, you can reveal several organs and make it look like he’s been wounded. The last feature is the capture, another simple but cool item. There are two pieces, a chest piece and a head piece. The chest piece wraps...[See More]
Velociraptor "Cyclops Raptor" Jurassic Park - Lost World (Kenner) - Dinos - Series 1 Rated 1.00 stars by Mr-X This raptor is easily my favorite raptor model in all of the JP series's. He’s got a great sculpt, great colors and great actions.
Our Raptor friend stands at about 3.75 inches tall, his short stature is due to him being in a running/ about to pounce pose which fits very well. He comes with capture gear and a feature. His capture gear is actually quite simple, the hook goes around his leg while the bit bar goes into the jaw, simple enough. His action is cool two, when his tail is pulled from side to side, his head shakes. When down with the gear on the action causes him to pull the gear off of us leg and free himself.
His paint and sculpt are awesome. As stated, he’s sculpted in a nice running pose but he also has body damage sculpted on. First off he’s blind, his eye is painted white...[See More]
Tyrannosaurus Rex "Junior" Jurassic Park - Lost World (Kenner) - Dinos - Series 1 Rated 4.75 stars by Mr-X Here’s a prime example of figure exaggeration when trying to make a figure based on a movie.
Little rex stands about 5 1/4 inches tall, to tall. He’s bigger then all the human figures by almost another head. In the movie he came up to about mid chest on the characters but here he dwarfs them. He comes with two items, a muzzle and a cast, at least they got the cast right. The muzzle fits nicely over his mouth and the cast fits via a peg-to-hole into his leg. The broken leg has an odd sculpt. The leg is actually two pieces, the lower half being attached by a stretchy string. I guess this was done to allow us to turn his leg to look like its broken but really its no good, probably would have been better without that and just as one leg.
His coloring is off, really off. He looks nothing...[See More]
Triceratops "Trike" Jurassic Park - Lost World (Kenner) - Dinos - Series 1 Rated 5.00 stars by Mr-X The Trike was another dino captured by the Hunters and later released by the Gatherers. His release became known by the Hunters when he ran directly through the Hunters main tent and through a presentation of their progress which was being sent back to the Mainland. After pummeling the tent it then proceeded to flip vehicles into the air, creating more damage and chaos.
This trike is pretty cool, its got a good likeness except for its size. It comes at about 4 inches and is in a low moving pose. He also comes with capture gear which snaps around his head and is apparently meant to keep his head grounded. He, like most of the other dinos, has a break away action. When the left back leg is pull, the head swing up. When the gear is on, it makes him look like he is throwing the gear off his...[See More]
