Motoko Kusanagi
3D Animation from Japan (McFarlane) - Ghost in the Shell
Rated 2.00 stars by somebody1
A disappointing figure. Why McFarlane chose the Motoko from the 1990s movie instead of the comics or even the playstation game is beyond me. If you are a fan of that movie then this is for you. If you, like me, are not then you'll want to get it on blowout if you can find it. I got mine on blowout for under 5.00 years ago and they're still cheap online. The sculpt actually doesn't resemble the character in the movie as much as you would expect but there are others in this line that are like that as well for whatever reason. She features a static pose with the absolute most basic articulation in the hips, shoulders, and neck. The display base is meant to represent the vat used to put the artificial flesh on her body but looks like a blob of green with silver machinery on it. A simple, and...[See More]
Robocop Glow
Robocop (Kenner) - Series 2
Rated 3.50 stars by somebody1
The only figure in the line I got back when it was out. It never seemed that popular around here and they were pretty pricey compared to other figures. He is basically a remold of the same figure as the others but in a glow in the dark yellow with metallic blue highlights and he glowed very brightly. His one arm is a minigun barrel with no elbow and he also came with a rather out of scale Auto-9 pistol which glowed in the dark too. The figure featured a removable helmet of soft plastic that was actually fairly detailed for figures at the time. The head vaguely resembles Peter Weller and had fewer signs of trauma than the movie version this being a kid's show although they really didn't shy away from the fact of what happened to him. The head is the only thing that didn't glow in the dark...[See More]
ED-260
Robocop (Kenner) - Series 1
Rated 4.00 stars by somebody1
The ED 260 is the upgraded 209 series seen in the Robocop cartoon while in the comic books he will later be replaced by the 309 series. This figure was one that I had been searching for for years. The figure is molded in color, not quite movie accurate, and the decals replace minor details that could have been sculpted or these days painted on. It is a fairly large figure, larger than the normal Robocop figures, but not in the scale it would be as seen in the film. It is, however, in scale with the newer Japanese Robocop figures that are about 5 inches. This is the first figure of the Enforcement Droid series with the next being a vinyl model and followed by newer figures from high end toy makers in Japan and the US. The articulation is pretty much non existent with the articulation only...[See More]

Front Mission 3 (Artfx - Squaresoft) - Basic Series
Rated 5.00 stars by somebody1
One of the most underrated strategy RPG game franchises. These are some of the nicer mecha figures around and I wish I had gotten them on mark down when I had the chance. You don't get a whole lot in the way of accessories, just a basic sampling of the weapons you can equip in the game. The toy line also fails to show off the full array of mechas and modifications you can get installed on them. One of the issues with this line is non of the machines are named. You have to go by the number on the package which is rather annoying as they have names in the game. The big selling point of these figures is the articulation and balance. They are highly articulated and extremely pose-able and if you are careful a few of them will even balance on one foot. The head articulation is very limited but...[See More]

Virtual On (Sega) - Basic Series
Rated 5.00 stars by somebody1
This figure is one of the best figures I've seen and I am even more impressed that it was made in 1998. It is a variant that represents on of the 2 factions in the arcade game. It features a rather outlandish paint job though. There are numerous points of articulation in the arms, weapons, feet, knees, shoulders and torso. It comes with 2 heads, a couple pair of hands, missile launchers, guns, melee weapons. All together there is close to a dozen or more accessories that it comes with which have served well as fodder parts. In addition to the articulation points the back of each shoulder has areas that open to reveal what I assume are thrusters and each has a part that folds out. On the back is also a hatch that opens to reveal a small disc which I'm assuming is the thing that controls...[See More]

Shadowrun Duels (WizKids) - Series 1
Rated 3.00 stars by somebody1
This is a little known toy line that arose from the purchase of the Shadowrun franchise by Wizkids (makers of Magic and other games) from FASA who created it. I found this line on markdown at KB toys and wish I had gotten more of them. The figures only have articulation on the hands, which are interchangeable, shoulders which only move up and down, and the head. This is mostly due to the fact that the figure is meant to stand on the special base. This base is hollow to contain your dice, accessories, rule book and a few other items. The top of the display base was the all in one replacement for the traditional Shadowrun character sheet and used several dials to keep track of HP, magic, and such. The rules were pretty convoluted from trying to cram a massive core rulebook into a pamphlet....[See More]

Bayonetta (Play Arts Kai) - Basic Series
Rated 4.00 stars by somebody1
The secondary villian of the Bayonetta game . She is one of the first two Kai figure line from Playarts. Sadly the kai franchise costs twice as much as the normal playarts stuff and the quality is far from what you'd expect from the company given the excellent Final Fantasy line. The proportions on the figure seem to be a bit off, her legs to long and her head too small. The likeness is okay but the hair doesn't seem quite right. The paint is good and is a good representation of the character's outfit. The accessories are very bare bones, all you get is her trademark pistols and nothing else. Given the variety of forms she has in the game it would have been nice to have one of the animal forms or even the motorcycle she repeatedly appears with. As said before her head is a bit small for...[See More]

Bayonetta (Play Arts Kai) - Basic Series

The lead character and namesake of the Bayonetta game franchise. The likeness is okay but the glasses break off easily and are small enough to be lost without a chance of finding them again. The paint is good and is a good representation of the character's outfit. The accessories are very bare bones, all you get is her trademark pistols and nothing else. Given the variety of weapons she has from a sword to numerous other guns a few extras would have been nice. As...[See More]

Gears of War (Neca) - Series 1
Rated 2.00 stars by somebody1
The sculpt and detail on the figure is very good but the quality control isn't. This is the 2nd one of these figures I've owned and the 2nd one to have his left arm fall off at the elbow, the joint is broke, while coming out of the package. The paint on the figure is above average for NECA with good flesh tones and no paint rub or flaking. The pouches on both of mine were very loose as they simply snap/glue into the rubber belt they have on him. The Lancer rifle/chainsaw they gave him is okay but as usual it is slightly warped and made of pretty soft plastics. The figure advertises improved articulation but NECA's idea of articulation is a bit lacking. The head, arms, elbows (when not broken), ankles, knees, and wrists are about it which makes it just barely a statue. I plan on using this...[See More]
