Looks like Super7 finally appealed to me with their Turtles figures by doing an updated version of one of my personal favorites from the original line. No, it’s sadly not Slash… but it is Metalhead (and we got Casey on track for next wave)! The packaging is the same-old, same-old, yadda, yadda, yadda… so let’s just move on. Metalhead isn’t one of the Ninja Turtles, per say, but he’s still a turtle, mechanical or not, and he stands just as tall as them at 6”. His appearance isn’t too much different from his 1989 counterpart, but his torso looks quite unlike the original in which he actually has a neck. What better feeling is there than going into Target and finding that one figure you’d never thought you would ever see in-store? I experienced that feeling when I went to one store and was lucky enough to see one of NECA’s latest TMNT releases, Muckman, right on the shelves. Considering the fact that I never saw Metalhead, Krang, or the Ultimate Foot Soldier in-store, seeing him and Mondo was a pleasant surprise. They were one-off characters in the original cartoon, but they were still pretty memorable (at least more so from the old Playmates line, but still). The packaging continues the trend of FHE-styled box art, and the illustrations still look as great as ever. Jeez, it took me how long to get the Boss Fight Max to go with my Sam? I got the big guy like back around April or May I believe, and it’s like almost the end of August now? Sheesh, you think a guy who said that you can’t have Sam without Max would take this long to complete the duo. I caved in a while back ordered him through BBTS, and it didn’t take too long for him to get here. The packaging is the same as what Sam has, but the graphics are somewhat different. Still, it looks great and it’s easy to open, so not much to say here. Max himself stands about 4 ¼” tall from the big feet to his rabbit ears, and he looks nice. In case you haven’t heard, Super7 recently revealed that they got the Simpsons license, along with the first wave of “ULTIMATES” for them. While it’s an unusual line-up for this wave (only two regular characters and three one-offs), the figures look great and it shows how deep the company is going with the license. But years before all this, Playmates did their own line of Simpsons figures in the early 2000s known as World of Springfield. While the main gimmick with them was that they could talk when connected to a playset, over time I came to appreciate the great sculpts, good accessories, and the many characters it did. It hasn’t been too long since the third wave of Super7’s TMNT Ultimates began shipping out, and they’re not just available through S7 and other online retailers, a few comic shops have been getting them in as well, but the only two my comic store got are Rocksteady and Metalhead. Had to grab Rocksteady go with the Bebop I already have, of course. The packaging is just like what we got in waves one and two, but the cardboard backdrop on the inside is different this time around. Originally, you had to pull that out to get to the figure, but here the top flaps up so you can remove the plastic tray more easily, and it’s a nice improvement. NECA sure knows how to make the most out of a figure, huh? We’ve seen this Foot Soldier like what, eight times? Sure, they included it in two-packs, that SDCC eight-pack, and even damaged versions, but never by itself. Now that has changed with the ultimate release. The packaging art is inspired by the old VHS tapes, but this is the coolest looking one they did. A small army of these diabolical droids scaling the rooftops is shown on the front, and it’s definitely beautiful. Everything inside is neatly packed inside plastic trays, and there’s only a few bits of plastic ties and tape you need to remove. It was an interesting choice of Super7 in their TMNT Ultimates line to have one of the turtles themselves in each wave, but even if there’s only one in the first wave, you still got to have their sensei/father figure, Splinter. Do I even need to say anything about the packaging here? It’s pretty much just like everyone else in the line, and S7’s Ultimates in general. May as well just go right ahead and talk about the figure. The sculpt, much like the other figures, is based off of the original Playmates figure with some updated details. The tail is longer and pointier at the end, much like how it is on a real rat, and the head resembles the artwork on the original cardback more, with more pointed ears. It hasn't been too long since DC's latest movie, The Suicide Squad, hit both theaters and HBO Max, and it quickly proved to be a hit thanks to a great cast and a perfect mix of action, gore, and comedy. Certainly a lot better than the 2016 film, am I right? Of course, like its predecessor, merchandise quickly rolled in for it, including some figures as part of McFarlane's ongoing DC Multiverse line. This wave has a "build-a-figure" gimmick; collect all four - Harley Quinn, Bloodsport, Peacemaker, and Polka Dot Man - and you can build a huge King Shark figure. It sure has gotten easier to get NECA’s TMNT figures, huh? With the distribution on them having improved along with online pre-orders for certain releases, fans couldn’t be happier. Those of the most recent releases now, the ultimate toon Mondo Gecko and Muckman, got offered a while back on NECA’s online store NOT as pre-orders, but direct stock, and they’re shipping out now from them. I only ordered Mondo and just got him in, so let’s take a look. While there’s plenty of horror movies I love, one of my favorites would have to be Scream. Taking a regular slasher film setting and having the characters being very well aware of the type of scenario they’re in definitely makes for a clever flick. And if that wasn’t enough, a new one is coming out next year and I’m definitely excited for it. It’s been almost a year since I reviewed NECA’s “retro” Ghostface, and I recently caved in and got the “ultimate” version, so let’s take a look at him.
