Green Goblin Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) - Series 13 - Onslaught Series Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire Why is Green Goblin considered one of the greatest villains of all time? Well, he wears green and purple (like the Joker), laughs insanely all the time (like Joker), and flys around on a rocket (...like Joker's imaginary rocket, yeah!).
Norman stands a hair under 6 inches, which is just fine with me, it only adds to the impish image. This is one fine figure, there is detailing to enhance the overall appearance, even the long cap has realistic seams! I kinda sorta have a problem with the figure not being painted, at least it looks and fells like the body parts are cast in their respective colors. Most of the figure has a dull matte-finish though to help off-set the feeling of "plasticy-ness". The face looks like it's the real face instead of a mask, but the way the eyes are help bring it...[See More]
Sabretooth (Age of Apocalypse) Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) - Giant Man Series Rated 4.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire It's wierd to see this version of Sabretooth so ugly because I always see him drawn as a handsome man, well, handsome like the Beast from the Beauty and the Beast Disney movie. It's cool to be this ugly I guess, I mean, Apocalypse is ugly as hell and he still has hot chicks swarming around him. Yeah, they're his slaves, but still! I think it would be nice to be in his harem...um, anyway...
Tooth is almost 6.5 inches tall but looks shorter because of the stumpy proportions of the body. The arms look odd but they work. Paint is almost non-existent on this figure, but it's still shaded a little to bring-out the shredded muscles. The body has seams in the suit so it doesn't just look like painted skin, and the legs have effective folds in the clothes, they're even textured a bit. They would...[See More]
Thank you Doc Nightmare for living up to your name. Learned far more about you sexuality in this review than I ever wanted to know.
Supernova 52 (DC Direct) - Basic Series Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire Supernova stands in at about 6.75 inches of solid plastic. This thing is heavy for an average-build figure, and coupled with the wonky warped feet, makes him almost impossible to stand normally. It's a fine sculpt though, this is a great basic male design. Boots and gloves look good, they look like clothing instead of painted skin. There are grooves along the borders of the different colors on the body, which is...okay, lol (You'll forgive the lacklusterness of the review, I have no idea who this character is, I didn't read DC's 52! I'd be making witty comments about his alcoholism or something otherwise). I like the head-sculpt, even though it's a generic masked-head, it still manages to look bold, and intelligent even. The paint is flawless! the body and cape have a soft matte finish,...[See More]
Kilowog Green Lantern (DC Direct) - Series 1 Rated 4.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire I'm a little bit disappointed with this figure because it doesn't look like the prototype pictures. The actual figure is a lot more "bubbly", very smooth and round, while the prototype pic was a little more irratic in the muscle department and had a narrower head (the actual figure has a fat pig-like head lol). Oh well, it's a still an impressive figure for the retail price, can you believe I got mine for a dollar? @_@
You could destroy someone by bashing them over the head with this toy, it's so massive! 7.5 inches of drill-instructing terror! I can only imagine the kind of beast Arkillo is going to be when they make it! The body is matte-black and the green and white areas are glossy semi-metallic, the kind that looks like it has sparkles. I hate this sparkle crud, but it doesn't look...[See More]
Jonah Hex Showcase Presents (DC Direct) - Basic Series Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire Jonah Hex, holy crud! Why haven't you bought this figure already! The guy fights train-robbers, demons, giant worms, vampires, evil turtles, crotch-rot, almost anything you can think of, and lives to tell the tales!
The Hex stands in at about 6.75 inches of cold hard plastic. This is one sexy badass man. He's got a crazy intense glare that only looks meaner with the furled deformed lip (only the lip is scarred, not the whole side like in some versions of the character). I think the only major fault with the figure is that the lips doesn't look gross enough, the perfect paint hides it, hah. And I mean it, the paint is absolutely immaculate! ZERO FLAWS. The hair is a nice golden brown shade and slightly highlighted and the clothes are textured and suitably gritty (though I think they look...[See More]
Donna Troy Infinite Crisis (DC Direct) - Series 2 Rated 3.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire Donna Troy...like everyone else, I thought she was a Star Trek character, and it turns out she was, it was one of her millions of past lives that she somehow remembers.
Donna stands about 6.5 inches tall, and unfortunately, as much as I like her design, I don't like this figure. The hips are the main problem, they jut out WAY too much and are SQUARE! WTF!? They're just horrible. The legs don't move much, a V-Cut would have been much nicer to have, it would have improved the appearance AND the articulation, I guess Donna here was the victim of a lazy monday morning meeting over at DC HQ.
"Hey guys, does this look funky to you?"
"Uh, yeah...how much will it cost to fix it?"
"Like, nothing practically, all we have to do is call the factory and tell them to use a different generic female...[See More]
Alexander Luthor Infinite Crisis (DC Direct) - Series 1 Rated 4.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire Well, this is a very simple figure, I don't have much to say about it, so I'll just post some Evanescence instead:
All that I can't ignore alone at night.
All that I'm wanted for,
Although I wanted more.
Lock the last open door, my ghosts are gaining on me.
Just kidding :P
Alexander Luthor stands about 6.5 inches tall, and like the arrogant doofus that he is, clothed himself in golden armor to make Apollo himself jealous. I love the bright shade of gold, and the engraved ribbing is okay, the figure's sculpt shows a youngish male body well, not overly-muscled. The face sculpt is spot-on to some of the pictures I've seen, so kudos to the sculptor dude! I think the hair looks stupid though, it's the lazy paint-job that ruins it. It just looks like a bunch of bloody spaghetti lol. Alex...[See More]
Black Canary Justice League of America (DC Direct) - Series 1 Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire If any woman ever looked like this in real life, I'm pretty sure I'd die from a heart-attack, it's a beautiful figure! Though I honestly can't recall when Black Canary's face ever looked so cartoony lol. The lips might be a little too pouty (never heard anyone complain about that though).
Ms Lance stands about 6.25 inches tall, and I really don't know how she does it with those tiny-bum feet, hah! They look odd compared to the other AMPLE features of her body. Anyhoo, I'm not a fan of this mesh-legged costume, I liked her other grey/yellow Birds of Prey uniform a lot more, but whatevs, this looks cool too, full of attitude. The stockings are a little thick though. The hair has an awesome wind-swept effect, it limits head-movement a little though. Like most DCD figs, it's finely painted,...[See More]
Harbinger Crisis on Infinite Earths (DC Direct) - Series 1 Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire Harbinger stands about 6.25 inches and is sooooooo pretty! This is one of the best female face-sculpts I've seen, it's just too bad she has a sculpted mask bits and that awful poofy hair, too much work for me to use for customs. This is really a fantastic figure, paint apps are flawless for the most part and the articulation is sturdy. My main complaint is that her stance pretty much forces you to use the stand included or else she'll fall over and cause all your other figures to suicide-dive off the shelf. Also, I hate the hair, it's clumsily painted and is actually a little sticky, yuk. The suit's colors are nice enough, but I wouldn't really buy this figure, only reason I have it is because someone wanted me to repaint it as a Green Lantern (it reminds me of Boodika for some reason,...[See More]
Dr. Impossible DC Universe Classics (Mattel) - Wave 6 Rated 4.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire One of the formulas used for naming a villain is to place the title of "Dr" before some kind of intangible, creepy, or just plain awesome-sounding thing. Dr Polaris, Dr Drakken, Dr Unrelentor, Dr Executor, Dr Evil Purple Unicorn. Yeah. Dr Impossible sounds alright. No one knows if he really is a doctor (not that it ever really matters). No one really knows who he is AT ALL. Current theories are; He used to be a common thug who found some Apokaliptic tech; Could be related to Mister Miracle (he has a serious grudge against the miracle-man); Could be a man-eating purple Unicorn in disguise.
Dr I stands almost 6.5 inches, he looks very tall, a bald head and high collar make him look bigger than he really is, a great attribute for a villain. The slimmer Black Manta base is smartly used and...[See More]
