Cult Classics Reviews
Stuntman Mike Cult Classics (Neca) - Series 7 Rated 4.00 stars by moviemaniacx A solid sculpt but lack of accessories and articulation really limits what could’ve been an amazing figure. Mike just kinda stands there and has no base to stand upon. The likeness of Kurt Russell is good with the sunglasses head but the alternate head is a bit off in that it looks too young. It resembles a young Jack Burton more than the older Stuntman Mike. On top of that Mike’s cigarette is one of the most fragile things I’ve ever seen and should’ve been a metal rod if they were going to make it that thin.
Here’s what I would’ve done: a boxed set with his ‘70 Chevy Nova or ‘69 Charger pointing in a recreation of the “that was fun!” scene. Alternatively do a similar, more poseable figure with an asphalt highway base, Mike’s black book, photos and his trademark Icy Hot jacket (though...[See More]
Hannibal Lecter (Holding Cell) (Silence of the Lambs) Cult Classics (Neca) - Hall of Fame Rated 5.00 stars by moviemaniacx Arguably the pinnacle of NECAs Hall of Fame line, we have Hannibal Lecter from his most chillingly iconic scene. The sculpt replicates Anthony Hopkins’ likeness and pose perfectly. The jail cell base is a great complement and the attention to detail is exquisite, from the spilled meal tray to the exact flooring of Hannibal’s makeshift cell, they nailed everything about this figure. 10/10....[See More]
Beetlejuice Cult Classics (Neca) - Series 7 Rated 4.00 stars by moviemaniacx The sculpt and paint job are amazing but the accessories are a bit lacking (two snakes and The Handbook for the Recently Deceased). The biggest issue is the lack of a base because the figure is hard to stand on its own. NECA killed it with elaborate bases in the previous Cult Classics and its a shame they stopped including them...especially since a Beetlejuice base has so much creative potential....[See More]
Michael Myers (Ghost Sheet) Cult Classics (Neca) - Hall of Fame Rated 4.00 stars by Karma Jawa Received this yesterday. It’s second hand so no packaging review, and no pumpkin accessory either as it was missing.
It’s an older NECA figure, which means four things: It’s rare; it’s expensive; articulation isn’t great; and it’s obviously not going to be up to the high quality levels of contemporary NECA figures.
The figure itself is Michael Myers from the first Halloween film, and comes with the scene-specific ghost sheet he, erm, ‘borrowed’ from Bob. The sheet is removable with a full Michael Myers figure underneath. Articulation is minimal. The head, arm joints, hands, and feet move, but there’s no waist joint or leg joint movement. Myers is depicted in his classic look, complete with Shatner mask. The detail on the body is very good, but whilst the head isn’t terrible there’s...[See More]
Jigsaw Killer & Saw Puppet Cult Classics (Neca) - Series 5 Rated 4.50 stars by TheGreyGoose Alright, I'm at 51 reviews, but I'm going back to basics. So here we go, NECA Jigsaw Killer.
as a side note I know most people are getting sick of saw movies but I love the entire series! I think they are great!
Sculpt: NECA perfectly captures the likeness of Tobin Bell with this amazing sculpt, it's spot on in everything from details to scale. When it comes to the puppet, his suit is a bit too thin, but hey, it's not like we're getting anything better right? Whatever, I can deal.
Paint: Outright fantastic, no stray marks, great technique, it's like they took a 3D picture, it's just so realistic.
Articulation: See, this is where I get a bit skeptical, his elbow joints are swivels instead of the normal double hitch. This severely limits posability, leaving him with only a few decent...[See More]
T-800 Endoskeleton Cult Classics (Neca) - Series 3 Rated 5.00 stars by CplHicks I have watched the terminator movies ever since I was young. My favorite part was the future war scenes. I loved the flash of plasma rifles the rolling treads of the HK crushing the skulls and the humming sound of the flying HK. But my favorite was the endoskeletons. 6’2 tall of solid metal with a morbid metallic grin that could send chills down your spine. The endoskeleton *is* what the terminator movies are about in my opinion. Don’t forget underneath Arnold there was a model 101 chassis. I was extremely excited when I herd NECA was producing an endoskeleton figure. The endoskeleton weighs is at 6 inches tall. Right out of the package it looks awesome. The sculpt is impressive and the paint job is wonderful. But what really stands out is the articulation. This figure boasts a whopping...[See More]
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (The Beginning) Cult Classics (Neca) - Box Sets Rated 5.00 stars by wright_pegg2007 The Texas chainsaw massacre: The beginning (or TCM:TB) action figure boxed set from Neca is highly recommended for fans of TCM and horror alike. Much like all of Necas figures, this one is amazing. The detail is great and the paint job gives it that true killer look. The accessories are superb, and include a clever, mallet, hook, no whining sign, and a complete basement diorama. Don't forget the trusty chainsaw, also included. The diorama isn't what I thought it would be, but still nice. It consists of a stump, a bench, a crate like table and a full sized table complete with bloody skinned victim. These pieces are loose and do not have any specific base to place them on, basically leaving it open for the buyer to create their own basement layout. The figure also comes with 2...[See More]
