3D Animation from Japan Reviews
Kaneda
3D Animation from Japan (McFarlane) - Akira
Rated 3.50 stars by Milbury
MacFarlane's 20+ year old portrayal of the cocky antihero of the anime classic AKIRA still represents one of the only options fans of the character have for including him in their collections. At 6.75 inches he's rather tall for inclusion in a classic 6 inch figure lineup, though he's perfectly sized for the new 7 inch offerings from MacFarlane. His articulation is extremely limited and he cannot sit on the bike figure that was released alongside him, a hideously glaring mistake to collectors both then and now. But he is crafted well and includes all the accessories one would want a Kaneda figure to have, including his laser rifle, power pack, and even racing goggles (that can barely fit his head). If you're a fan of the character grab him, but if you're not you should probably pass...[See More]
Naomi
3D Animation from Japan (McFarlane) - Armitage
Rated 2.50 stars by somebody1
This anime kind of flew under the radar in the 90s and the sequel faltered in the 2000s but it was original and the designs were good. The figure isn't a bad representation of her but the face isn't quite right as even in the animation she looks stern but innocent at the same time. The expression on the figure is of a hardened killer. Her accessories are interesting but very easily lost with the sunglasses and handcuffs vanishing very quickly no matter how hard you try to keep them safe. The gun being painted pink, as it was in the first movie, helps you find it and is a pretty cool gun and somewhat animation accurate. These accessories actually pretty much are all you'd be able to come up with to represent her as they're all she had in the animation. Her outfit isn't quite animation...[See More]
Motoko Kusanagi
3D Animation from Japan (McFarlane) - Ghost in the Shell
Rated 2.00 stars by somebody1
A disappointing figure. Why McFarlane chose the Motoko from the 1990s movie instead of the comics or even the playstation game is beyond me. If you are a fan of that movie then this is for you. If you, like me, are not then you'll want to get it on blowout if you can find it. I got mine on blowout for under 5.00 years ago and they're still cheap online. The sculpt actually doesn't resemble the character in the movie as much as you would expect but there are others in this line that are like that as well for whatever reason. She features a static pose with the absolute most basic articulation in the hips, shoulders, and neck. The display base is meant to represent the vat used to put the artificial flesh on her body but looks like a blob of green with silver machinery on it. A simple, and...[See More]
