This first figure of the Dark Lord of the Sith was used throughout Kenner's Star Wars line and it's nostalgia factor might influence a lot of collector's opinions and some might think a modern fan (such as myself who grew up in the late 90s) would not be a fan of this model but in fact I think it's a perfect start to a promising future and decent first attempt that was perfect for the era he was released in. I believe the choice of giving him a trench coat instead of a cloak or cape was a stylistic choice based on the robe Vader wears over his chest guard instead of under as he does in other films, so one could treat this as his robe and then add a cloak over, but it still looks great as it is. I like this figure because not only am I a huge fan of the star wars series, I also like collecting figures and I absolutely love this darth vader figurine. The paintwork is good although I think that it should be a set figure of him holding a light saber because darth vader always looks cool holding a light saber ready to battle someone. This is the best playset I own, and will ever own. Four storiestall, to a 3 3/4 Figure. It has a working trash compactor, with a Dianoga squid, a rope swing and retractable brigde, A working elevator, a trap door leading to the trash compactor, and an exploding gunner station. I got this figure loose, but 100% complete. This is a great piece of sculpting, especially for 1978. The outfit is not movie acurate, but I can overlook that, Because I really like the scene he's in. He comes with one gun, taken from the same mold as the storm trooper blaster.
