Karl T. FaceThis is what it looks like to be a winner and a loser at the same time.
An early toy-only minion, this guy's only real personality trait is "cartoonishly evil". And as far as the beast mode goes, this is pretty good. It's a fairly good, if squarish, representation of an earwig, with defined segments, accurate mouthparts, and only slightly exaggerated cerci.
The majority of the toy is cast in translucent green plastic, but it's so dark as to appear almost black in indirect light. The legs, face, and pincers are a nice Halloweeny orange. All in all, slightly evocative of a decaying leaf pile.
Articulation is limited to a pair of hinges in the tail, enough to curl the pincer forward, and the pinchy pinchy action (lever-driven).
Transformation is somewhat like a typical car, oddly- fold out...[

ManterrorTransformers - Beast Wars (Hasbro) - Deluxe

Karl T. FaceWhenever anyone talks smack about Beast Wars designs, I point to the bugs.
Manterror is a bit of an odd duck, in that he's one of those toy-only characters that didn't see any presence at all in fiction at the time. Selling on design alone, he was a winner in my book. Kicking off with beast mode, there was no way they could pull off full-length legs that could hold it up, so I can forgive the stumpy limbs. The oversized claws look strangely thick and powerful, like there's some crustacean mixed in there, which is interesting. The only real complaint I have is the mouth articulation: it reminds me of Flygon more than any arthropod. But hey, those balljoint wings have pretty good range.
The color scheme is good: lime green and translucent green plastics, with a few touches of translucent...[

Waspinator (Fox Kids)Transformers - Beast Wars (Hasbro) - Transmetals - Deluxe

Collector1Back in the 90's, Airrazor was one of my favorite characters from the Beast Wars cartoon and when I got the chance to own an action figure of her, even one that never appeared in the show, I jumped at it. A little backstory for this particular redeco: during the original run of the controversial Beast Machines, Beast Wars was being reaired to fill up time, so Hasbro and Fox Kids saw a chance to make even more money by rereleasing the same old toys with a new paint job and a fancy sticker on the box that said Fox Kids! on it.
Not my favorite color scheme for Transmetals Airrazor, it is still nice and easy on the optics. The main body of the robot mode is a light orange color with the upper arms and abdomen are different shades of blue. The heat-sensitive rubsign, which still works, is on...[

Collector1"The Universe cowered once at the name Megatron, and it shall do so again!"
Megatron is a master of manipulation and a master at the art of divide and conqour. Taking his name from a passage in the Covenant of Primus, possible like the original Megatron did centuries ago, Megatron will do and gamble whatever it takes, time, space, and even himself, to accomplish is schemes which are often massive and complex in nature. Megatron will make sure that the Predacons once more become the great army and it once was and no one and nothing will stand in his way, esspeically Optimus Primal!
Megatron transforms into a Transmetal's Tyrannosaurs Rex, a hybrid of mechanicle and organic parts. Appearing like a machine in his beast mode while his robot mode looks oddly organic.
In Beast Mode,...[

Collector1Cheetor is the youngest crew member of the Maximal ship Axlon and as such, is full of youthful vigor and a strong desire to prove himself to his older compatriots, especially their leader, Optimus Primal, who he has affectionately nicknamed "Big Bot".
Even though his arrogance and quick temper have often gotten him and his fellow Maximals in some rather sticky situations when battling Megatron and his Predacon band of criminals, Cheetor has proven time and time again that he is a capable warrior and given enough guidance and experience, a potential future leader.
Cheetor was one of the first Deluxe Transformers released in the new Beast Wars series and was originally credited as a combat veteran and one of the elder Maximals. However, after the show aired, his bio was changed to more...[

QuickstrikeTransformers - Beast Wars (Hasbro) - Fuzors
Rated

grimlockprime108Today we are looking at a figure from the TRANSFORMERS BEAST WARS line.Though he is listed on FIGURE REALM as a TRANSMETAL,QUICKSTRIKE is actually a FUZOR,one of HASBRO's more original ideas. The basic premise for these was to take two animals and give one creature the best(and worst)features of both. This lead to some varying results;QUICKSTRIKE here, from the PREDACON family, being one of the best.
We'll start with the beast mode.Using a mix of teal, orange, and brown;this figure uses these to great aplomb, never seeming gaudy or G2-ish.His beast mode is a complementary mix of scorpion and cobra. In this mode,QUICKSTRIKE has several articulaion points and action features. The main body has pincers that can reach upwards and grasp small objects(a MAXIMAL leg perhaps),and then the tail is...[
