Scarlet Spider Marvel Legends - Infinite Series (Hasbro)As a kid, I had an irrational affinity for Scarlet Spider's design. I mean, the suit looks like lazy cosplay, like the guy snatched a red zentai suit, strapped on some pouches, and threw on a sweater. It looks like some abomination I would have created for Halloween because all they had left at the Thrifty store were Noid and Izzy costumes. Huh, I guess I could relate to the character with this terrible origin story I made up for him. Who needs psychotherapy when you have little plastic men! This spidey is between 6.15 and 6.25 inches tall, depending on how loose the metal bit is on your tape measure. It looks fine in action poses, but the thin build of the figure makes it appear very tall when standing up straight. Clearly, the suit design is very simple. The body is completely plain, devoid of any wrinkles, which looks weird against the baggy folds of the sculpted blue sweater. The belt, wrist thingies and ankle pouches are separate flexible pieces, you can slip them off if you're cunningly clever (or have access to hot water). Maybe I'm just not used to outstretched hands on figures, but the fingers look freakishly long to me on the various hands that are included with the fig. I got used to them already though, and they look great on DCUC figures. They pop on and off easily enough and are plenty sturdy. I like this figure, it's odd, but then again what super hero figure isn't. I think this spiderman would look cool with stretchy tan cargo pants and something resembling rock-climbing shoes, to further the urban/street vibe instead of being stuck in this weird design limbo. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
