Balrog (Lord of the Rings (Neca)) Review
Balrog
Lord of the Rings (Neca) (Neca)Durin’s Bane, a Balrog of Morgoth. This is the largest figure I own. I am really glad to own one and of course recommend getting one if you are an avid Tolkien fan but there are issues with it despite it being the perfect size which when paired with your choice of Gandalf, canbe desplayed with pride! It’s scale does not disappoint but causes it’s problems. You get a menacing looking Balrog with extremely highly detailed texturing paint apps and sculpting, but due to its colossal size and weight doubles by his massive wings he is a bit too delicate. The way this figure was made its clear a lot of time went into the design but the actual joints themselves are hollow which leads to easier breaking even when not in use. The weight of the wings warps the joints where they are inserted so again maintenance is key for keeping him in good working condition. The sound effects sound realistic and the lights work nicely, you’re gonna need a lot of shelf space for him but overall it’s worth it. The someone limited articulation is an understandable sacrifice to make him stand, relying on the tail as a counter balance which many have complained about breaking, but as I said this figure is worth it, expensive and elusive this rare limitedly released piece is often one of the most coveted figure for Tolkien fans. It’s as good as it could be and incredible one was made to begin with as we don’t often see colossal sized figures in scale with smaller figures, looking at the abismal job done on that puny Smaug figure that wouldn’t be in scale with anything larger than a warhammer model

Awesome review Deaditor! Came close to nabbing one of these bad boys (broken but fixable) on ebay a few months back but the betting went way out of my budget range.

Yeah they are expensive unfortunately but then again understandably so.

I just got one of these, broken of course. My figure is in desperate need of some repairs, but I paid less than $100 for it and I could not be happier. It would have been better if they didn't add articulation to the lower half and focused on the stability of it.

I did do a tutorial with some pics on how to fix it if you look under my tutorials if you need a bit of help, though your damage might be different to the issues I has
