Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Ring (Toy Biz)This set of two figures and a horse is pretty average and typical of earlier toybiz lord of the rings figures with limited articulation and gimmicks, in this case a light up feature eh oh uses a yellow bulb rather than a lighter white lift which would had been more appropriate but perhaps it’s just of it’s time. What I like about this figure pack is mainly Asfaloth and Frodo’s cloak which I swapnout with the soft goods Elven cloak depending on a photo shoot in the right timeline. Arwen has an ok likeness but she’s really weirdly tall compared to other female figure so she’s out of scale and the only other figure we got of her was coronation Arwen which therefore leaves us with no decent Arwen figure, though this may not be a problem to some. Asfaloth looks great and hasn’t go anything wrong with him, he has prancing leg action as the other horses do and you get a mini Frodo figure to place in front of the rider which is moulded to fit meaning the only articulation is some head movement. Arsenal legs are that rubbery material so I imagine the card back figure on its own has the same legs but would be interesting if they were solid. I understand the reasoning behind the rubber legs but they are a bad feature as they can decay over time or make some figures impossible to stand, though the soft goods skirt is better than a plastic one as if you were to replace the legs with better articulated ones it wouldn’t be limited by a rubbery skirt as so often Tolkien figures are. One extra note: Arwen does not come with a sword and her hands are much more open than the packaged figure making it impossible to hold a sword.   by Deaditor |
