Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey (Bridge Direct)Some of the bridge direct figures aren’t great but I think this one is pretty close to a good successor to the Toybiz line. I’m so glad that a six inch line was at the very least started as a lot of the figures co-exist very nicely with the Toybiz lotr line and this is one of them. Bilbo is the perfect height being in scale with the other hobbits from Lotr and has nice detail with a fairly good likeness to Martin Freeman and the paint apps are generally good. He comes with sting and 2 travelling bags and this is where we enter some issues. The bags are fine though not detailed if you look at the bottles which I believe in film are red and green and here are unpainted but more importantly this has got to be one of the worst sting swords ever made. Arya starks needle would be bigger than this letter opener, they got it right back with the original ones specifically the prologue Bilbo/ basic Frodo post lothlorien time wise figure as those are perfect in size shape and detail. To get this figure up to scratch one would have to replace the sting sword with one of these from Toybiz as well as the sheath which can very easily be removed from this figure and swapped out with a Toybiz one. I also would also suggest some painting of the hair to get the right colour and add some realism to the figure to bring out its features as it is a good headsculpt just lacking in highlighting its features and painting those gold buttons in was a must for me! Overall this is one of the the best efforts from the bridge direct and doesn’t require much work at all, even just a sword swap would do for some.   by Deaditor |
