Write a Review link for that item. Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Ring (Toy Biz)This first Gandalf figure lacks quite a bit but it does have a few passable qualities. I think the staff and detailing like the bag and the robes themselves are done very well. The headsculpt is terrible there’s no denying that and due to the light up feature it lacks articulation but as much as other light up figures seem to. I’m sure many would argue that this figure is the worst Gandalf but for me it’s still the hobbit one. Coincidentally the likeness of this Gandalf is more reminiscent of dumbledore than Gandalf. I’ve not been able to get one of these figures to properly light up byt from what I’ve seen there’s a head variant where the detail is better more like the super poseable Gandalf and two light up colour variants of the crystal in the staff when activated one being green the other blue. Obviously a white light would be more appropriate but the effort made to make the staff removable by having two prongs in his left hand that when inserted into the staff and when a lever is pulled makes him raise the staff and turn the light on isn’t a half bad attempt and doesn’t hinder the articulation if the arms much though excessive use of the left arm will cause it to stop working and obviously there’s an issue with battery acid so Figures should be carefully checked. One final note to talk about is the hat and sword which don’t work well. The hat scuffs the hair paint job as it’s too hard so get the super poseable figure for that hat and the glam ring is the least accurate of the swords being too big to wise and the handle being off and only one side has sculpting near the base of the blade. I’d avoid this figure as the only part you might want is the staff as the crystal is clear but it’s not worth getting really as it’s a very poor first Gandalf figure and better ones came after.   by Deaditor |
