Muckman & Joe Eyeball (Muck Everlasting) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Classic Cartoon (Neca)What better feeling is there than going into Target and finding that one figure you’d never thought you would ever see in-store? I experienced that feeling when I went to one store and was lucky enough to see one of NECA’s latest TMNT releases, Muckman, right on the shelves. Considering the fact that I never saw Metalhead, Krang, or the Ultimate Foot Soldier in-store, seeing him and Mondo was a pleasant surprise. They were one-off characters in the original cartoon, but they were still pretty memorable (at least more so from the old Playmates line, but still). The packaging continues the trend of FHE-styled box art, and the illustrations still look as great as ever. This box is pretty tall as well, but I have a feeling that the one for the upcoming Chrome Dome will be much bigger. Being the ultimate packaging, the front flaps open so you can see everything inside. Hope you don’t mind dealing with a bunch of plastic ties, though. Standing at 7” tall, Muckman looks just like he walked off the screen, with accurate details and then some. All the lumpy parts and garbage is there, though the mirror on his stomach appears to be oversized. The paint looks good as well, with nice cel-shading and outlines, though there is a bit of slop on him, with a noticeable orange stain on the right foot. Still, he looks great, but you’ll really want to check in person for the best paint apps. The articulation for Muckman isn’t too far off from what we’ve been seeing with NECA on this line, as he has a ball-jointed head, chest, and hips, swivel/hinge shoulders and wrists, swivel biceps, waist, and thighs, double-hinge elbows and knees, and rocker/hinge ankles. Everything moves well, though I noticed that the hips are a bit looser than usual. The big feet do help him stand tall and study in certain poses, however. We get a good chuck of accessories here, starting off with a pair of gripping hands that swap easily with the ones he comes wearing, and an alternate mouth. The different mouths really help make him more expressive, but they’re hard to swap out. Joe Eyeball is included as well, of course. He qualifies as a whole another figure, thanks to articulation in the head and shoulders, and the paint and sculpt look great. There’s also the trash can Muckman carries him around in, and it hooks into his back. The best accessory here has to be the barrel with slime inside. The sticker on the drum is on the plastic wrapped around, but you can pull that off and put it on the barrel itself. As for the ooze inside, you can place it in Muckman’s hands, on his head, inside his can, etc., and watch it flow slowly. It’s sticky and slimy as all hell, but still a lot of fun. Finally, we got the rockalizer gun from “Rock Around the Block”, and while Muckman can hold it just fine, I can see most people giving it to Traag. Aside from a couple paint issues, Muckman is definitely a nice figure with great articulation, and that slime makes me feel like a kid again. The fact that I was able to find him in-store makes it all the more better, and it gives me high hopes of finding future releases. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
