Splitting Headache (Madballs (Premium DNA)) Review
Splitting Headache
Madballs (Premium DNA) (Premium DNA)The other Madballs we’ve gotten so far from Premium DNA are already somewhat gross, but this one is just nasty (I’m gonna jump right to the sculpt. The box is the same as the others).

Splitting Headache is unique from the others as he never got a “Head Popping” figure back in the day. In other words, he never got a body. Years later, he finally has one, and it’s just like the head – part flesh, part bone. His left side shows all the bone, with exposed ribs and green slime oozing through them. The rest of him is blue skin, he’s more of a goblin than outright human, and there’s blue slime and blood all around him. The head has been notably changed from the original ball, sporting pink lips instead of purple ones, and no green around the right eye. The bony texture is great, sporting a good deal of realism. The paint is pretty clean aside from some spots of bleed, and I love the bold colors. Headache stands around 6” tall, and his articulation is the same as the others with head, shoulders, elbows, wrists, chest, hips, knees, and ankles. The joints felt kind of awkward here, with the elbow swivels being somewhat loose. Considering that these joints are meant to pop off, it’s sort of expected.

As for accessories, the same four sets of hands are included here: fists, open, gripping, and pointing. My favorite accessory here (and quite possibly in the whole line) is the crowbar, which has a brain and eyeball smashed into it. How brutal! The bone is pretty neat as well, with the same nice texture as the figure, though it’s a pain to try and fit into the gripping hands. My least favorite here is the skateboard. While it looks nice and I can forgive the lack of rolling wheels, it’s a good deal too small for him to stand on.

I think Splitting Headache may be my favorite figure of this wave after Bruise Brother. I love how gruesome he is, and that pretty much encapsulates the spirit of Madballs. I know, it was a short review, but when you’ve already talked about two similar figures, there’s not much else to say.
