Demolition Gremlin 2-Pack (Gremlins 2) Gremlins (Neca) (Neca)After the disappointment that was the Brain Gremlin, I wasn't really sure if I would pick up another New Batch figure, or in this case, two of them. Eh, it's a set I've been wanting for a while, and spoiler alert: these two are much, much, better. I really like the packaging for this set, as it's supposed to resemble a big crate, and it sort of fits with the theme. It's easy to take everything out and put back in afterwards, though there's a couple plastic ties and bits of tape to remove for that to happen. Most of the Gremlins looked the same in the first movie, but The New Batch gave them more varied appearances, and this set has two of the generic ones. The bodies are the same, but the colors and the heads are different. Compared to the green Gremlin, the brown one has a narrower face and smaller ears, and both look really nice. Both stand around 6" tall, as the case is with the rest of the line, and even though the bodies are the same on both, they did a good job with them. While the brown Gremlin is butt-naked, the green one sports a fabric t-shirt and jacket. The jacket can come off, but I don't see a way to remove the shirt, though it's probably for the better, since the chest underneath is unpainted. Like with the Brain Gremlin, I assume they didn't paint under the clothes as a cost-saving measure, but the rest of the figure is fully painted, and it looks great. Same goes for the brown Gremlin, and neither have any sort of mistakes. Even though these two aren't as articulated as past Gremlins, they can still move pretty well with ball-socket neck and hips, swivel/hinge shoulders, elbows, wrists, and ankles, and hinged knees. I can forgive the lack of moving jaws here, mainly because I don't think the head designs would allow for it, but some movement at the torso would've been beneficial, along with better range in the necks. Still, you can get some decent poses out of them, though they have a tendency to fall over at random. This set is loaded with nice accessories, adding to the fun of it. Both Gremlins have two pairs of hands, gripping and open, and they work with everything else included here. Plenty of explosives are included, with four sticks of dynamite, a dynamite bundle, a bomb, a detonator with working plunger, and a big gunpowder barrel. The barrel can open up, allowing all the little accessories to fit inside. Going with them are a mallet, a beer can, and the Statue of Liberty blueprints. Lastly, the green Gremlin has a "Little Grems" helmet that clips securely on the ears. I've noticed that the price for this set varies quite a bit, and I've seen it go as high as $80, maybe even $90, at some retailers. Target has it the cheapest for $60, but I rarely see it there. At least I thought that was the cheapest. I found mine at a GameStop that had it on clearance, and it was one where all the clearance stuff was half off, so I got mine for only $32. That's roughly the price of just one NECA figure, and getting mine for such a deal makes me appreciate it a lot more. Even if you can't nab it for as low as I did, this set is still a lot of fun, thanks to all the included accessories. I wish both of the Gremlins had better articulation and balance, but they're still really nice, and so far, this may be the best New Batch release. - 11/2/22 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
