Major Legger Mutton Barnyard Commandos (Premium DNA) (Premium DNA)You think with the sheep's faction being called the R.A.M.S. and all, there'd be as much rams as there are sheep. Nope, there was only two, and this guy is one of them. Out of all four figures in the first wave, Major Legger Mutton's sculpt seems to have been upgraded the most from the original Playmates toy. The shape of his open mouth is more oval-like than round, and his eyes are much crazier-looking. But what isn't different from the original is that his horns are bigger than his head. The horns here are more of a off-white than solid white, and the fur is darker and more saturated than before. I believe these color changes were done to add some realism to an otherwise cartoony and exaggerated sculpt. As the other quadruped in wave one, Major Legger isn't as large or heavy as Side O'Bacon, being about 5" from face to tail and 3" for the body. Still, he's pretty big and chunky in-hand, and has plenty of detail. The fur texture is prominent all around, with the fur on the body flowing back rather than down like on the original. The paint work is pretty good, albeit with a few areas of marks and bleed, along with some clumping on top of the horns. Major Legger moves about the same as everyone else, with barbell head, front pasterns, and waist, swivel/hinge shoulders, elbows, hips, hocks, and tail, swivel thighs, and ball-jointed rear pasterns. While the hip pegs don't seem to go in all the way, with the right hip in particular popping out from time to time, he moves well. Unlike Side O'Bacon, he can pull off a good upwards pose. The thighs don't want to move on him, neither do they on any other figures, but they don't contribute much, and he can still pull off some nice poses. As a quadruped, Major Legger comes with a big old accessory designed to plug into his back. In this case, it's a rocket launcher, more colorful and realistic than what the original toy had. The launcher plugs into and out of his back with ease, and can also be aimed up and down. In addition, the rocket itself is removable, and I can see some cool displays or photos being done with that feature. To round things out, Major Legger also gets a pumpkin and two watermelons - one whole and one half. Although both are hollow plastic, they look great and realistic, and can fit with your more human figures. Major Legger Mutton is one of my two favorite figures in this wave, thanks to a great sculpt and accessories. Yes, there are a few issues, but with a company who's still relatively new to the figure world, it's to be expected, and the quality overall is surprisingly good. - 7/19/23 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
