Battle Armor S.N.A.K.E. (G.I. Joe (Super7)) Review
Battle Armor S.N.A.K.E.
G.I. Joe (Super7) (Super7)Although ReAction and Ultimates are what Super7's most known for, they've done a few other kinds of toys. There's their "supersize" vinyl figures, their Shogun Warriors tributes, known as Super Shogun, and their Super Cyborg line, dedicated to producing large-scale figures of robots and mechs (and for some reason, the Creature from the Black Lagoon). The latest Cyborg release, as well as my first one, comes from none other than G.I. Joe. Specifically, it's the S.N.A.K.E. Armor, based heavily off the original toy.

The box for this thing is massive, which is fitting given the figure is equally large. The graphics are simple, but are based off the old Joe toy card/box art. There's a bio for the armor on the side, and the back provides an X-ray view of the figure. What I don't like about the box, however, is how the figure's taken out. It's held in by both twist ties and plastic strips to a tray sealed to the cardboard. It can be a little tricky to get everything out, but you'll be happy once you're done.

The S.N.A.K.E. Armor stands a whopping 11" tall, and is meant to be a beefed-up version of the original toy. They did a pretty good job, with almost every detail from its predecessor being carried over. There's a few missing details, but it's all minor stuff, and I don't really mind. The original armor was a grayish color, but this one is more solid, unpainted white, and the details don't come out as well on it. There's a lot of printed details on the figure, ranging from the C.O.B.R.A. symbol to the warning sides, and it's all pretty clean, but there is a little red smudge on the back. Notice that what was a 6 on the original is changed to a 7 here, because Super7. Get it?

The main gimmick of the Super Cyborg line is that you can remove parts to reveal the inner workings underneath, and with the S.N.A.K.E. Armor, the front of both the torso and the legs can be popped off to reveal all the stuff inside that makes it function. There's some unpainted gray inside, but there's a lot of painted parts, with various metallic pieces as well as some reds, blues, and yellows. The paint work is pretty clean, with mostly unnoticeable bleed. The interior of the torso is actually another layer, and popping that off will reveal the C.O.B.R.A. trooper piloting it. The trooper is fully painted, but he suffers from more bleed and fuzziness than all the tech, and I feel the eyes are too small. The armor is hollow plastic, and frankly, I would've preferred if it was solid. For the price it has, $125, a heftier figure would justify the cost much more.

Like the old toy, there are four weapon attachments for the arms. The armor comes equipped with a claw, a missile launcher, a machine gun, and a flame thrower. The attachments plug into the arms snugly, and the two not in use can plug into pegs on the back. The attachments are a solid, vinyl-like material, which again, I wish the rest of the toy was like. There's only six points of articulation here: shoulders, forearms, and legs. It's not much, but you can change up its pose on the shelf every now and then.

The S.N.A.K.E. Armor is an alright toy. On the plus size, it's an upscaled recreation of the original toy, with a neat feature and cool weapon attachments. On the negative size, it's hollow plastic with a few paint issues here and there, and it costs more than Super Cyborgs usually do, being $125 compared to $75-85. Good thing Super7 was giving one of these away for free through Instagram, otherwise I wouldn't bother owning one.
