Rock Lords (Tonka)It's the mineral to Beast Wars' animal, Rock Lords! No, really. An offshoot of the main Gobot civilization took on naturalistic altmodes too, just with rocks. And here's one of the bad guys now!
Slimestone is a silver nugget, but seems to enjoy hot oil baths, which is apparently disgusting to others. He's implied to be pretty low-down and sleazy, using a slime gun to, presumably, make his opponents feel really icky. As it should.
The toy is a thing to behold, really. A short little robot with enormous shoulder pads and gigantic, wide-set feet. His vicious little nubbin of a head has crablike eyes above a slack-jawed jack o' lantern mouth. And it's almost entirely chromed. I'm terrified to handle it without a microfiber cloth handy. The aforementioned slime gun looks more like a scanner of some sort, implying a miscommunication or clumsy edit somewhere along the line. Articulation is a tad low for the line. The non-transformation joints are a swivel neck, swivel-hinge shoulders, and ape-arm elbows. Enough for a few poses with some character, actually.
Transformation is pretty straightforward, honestly. Just fold it all up and then finally exhale, because that was nerve-wracking. This thing has really tight joints. You're now holding a cartoonish silver nugget about the size of a golf ball. Not the flashiest thing in the world, but easier to dust than the "robot" mode.*
While not the best in the line, dude still makes out just fine for an 80s transforming toy, and with a pretty clean look to boot. The dancing gleam every time I walk by the shelf buys it a full extra point. Change my mind.
*Technically, they're cyborgs. Their entire race had to Dalek up after a civil war destroyed their ecosystem.
