Flange Doozer Fraggle Rock (Boss Fight Studio) (Boss Fight Studio)We all know who the Muppets are, ranging from Kermit and crew to the many characters of Sesame Street, but we can't forget Fraggle Rock. I recently got into the show, and with its fun characters, great songs, and entertaining stories, it's definitely worth your time. Boss Fight Studios acquired the license last year, and the first wave should be here soon. For now, they're kicking things off with a "preview" figure: Flange, one of the various Doozers on the show. The packaging is somewhat simple but good, with a red-purple gradient almost all around, a cross-sell on one side, and a character bio and accessory layout on the back. It's a pretty small box, but so is the figure. The interior is what's really special, however. The figure is held onto a rock-like tray, which is appropriate given the license, and the paper twisties holding in the figure are easy to remove. All of Flange's small accessories are kept inside a ziplock bag, which is great for ensuring nothing gets misplaced. As with any construction worker, Flange is wearing a helmet, but it can be removed. There's nothing really holding it onto the head; it just rests on his scalp. A magnet or peg holding it on would've been nice to have. Once it's off, you can get a good look at Flange's face, with little beady eyes and a tomato-like nose, along with a bit of hair and soft rubbery antennae on top. He's definitely accurate to the in-show puppet, and the colors are good, but there is some bleed around the hair and antennae. Aside from his gloves and boots, Flange doesn't really wear anything other than a harness/tool belt. Not quite as modest as the Fraggles. The belt looks nice, with storage for some of his tools, and the rope and calculator sculpted as part of it have clean paint. There is some texturing to the body, like the old Palisades Muppet line, but it's very subtle, and you may not notice it unless you feel around. Flange is a tiny figure, standing around 3" tall without the helmet. It makes sense as in the show, the Doozers were small enough to fit in a Fraggle's palm. That said, he's not meant to scale with the upcoming Fraggle figures, but I heard they'll be getting their own in-scale Doozers. Flange doesn't have a lot of articulation, mainly due to his size and design. He gets a barbell head, swivel/hinge shoulders, swivel wrists at the gloves, and ball-jointed hips. The joints require a bit of breaking free, but they got moving easily, and some nice poses can be managed, especially with the pre-posed arms. My only nit is that the head pops off easily, but other than, he moves fine. For accessories, Flange gets two different hammers, a wrench, a walkie-talkie, and a rolled up blueprint. The hammers can be carried in the belt/harness, and everything fits in his right hand. I wish he had interchangeable hands, though, so he could hold more than one thing at a time. While small in size, Flange is still big on fun, thanks to some decent articulation and a good number of accessories. He's a promising start to the line, and I'll be more than happy to grab the others once they come out. - 9/23/23 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
