Chun-Li Street Fighter (Jada Toys) (Jada Toys)Befitting a popular fighting game, Street Fighter has received plenty of action figure lines. The first one (related to the games, not the movie) was by ReSaurus, and it was succeeded years later by the much better and longer-lasted SOTA line. Storm Collectibles' line serves as the most recent major one, with plenty of figures, but being produced overseas means they're sorta pricey. Thankfully, Jada Toys is giving us a cheaper option, and they're going through it slowly, but with promising-looking figures. It took me until their third release to actually get something from their line, but said figure is Chun-Li, one of my favorite characters from the series. These figures come in window boxes shaped like an arcade cabinet, complete with printed-on buttons and lifebars, and it definitely fits given the license. The window does a good job of showing off everything, and while you'll need some scissors to cut everything free, the tray and its contents can be removed from the box with ease. The line is based off of Street Fighter II, which was where Chun-Li debuted. Of course, she usually doesn't look too much different across games, such as the head. The head looks great, with the stoic expression and clean paint work. Granted, there are some paint imperfections, but nothing too noticeable, and the texture on the hair is good too. She gets an additional shouting head, which works better for fighting poses. Standing around 5 3/4" tall, Chun-Li has her usual attire with blue clothing, boots, and spiked bracelets. The outfit looks great and is fully accurate to the game, complete with texturing on the blue clothes, and the yellow lines sport clean work and edges. The bracelets could look a little better paint-wise, given how uneven the edges are, but other than that, paint is all good. Her physique is accurate without exaggerating anything, but of course, she's got muscular, somewhat big thighs, showing she's well-trained in… kicking. Since Chun-Li's a fighter, she is required to have a lot of useful articulation. She gets a ball-jointed head with plenty of tilt, and the hinge in the base of the neck allows for more back-and-forward lean. The arms have swivel/hinge shoulders and wrists, swivel biceps, and double-hinged elbows, allowing for plenty of poses. The chest and waist are both ball-joints with a lot of tilt, which is definitely good for dynamic poses, and the legs get ball hips, swivel thighs and shins, double-hinged knees, and swivel/hinge ankles. Likely due to a gluing error, my Chun-Li had her left hip fused to her pelvis, so I needed to use a knife to cut it free, and the ankles have pretty tight hinges. Provided you run into no issues, you'll find that Chun-Li can do a lot, and she's one you'll be going back to time and again to find a new pose. There isn't a huge amount of accessories, but for a $25 figure, I'm not complaining. She has the aforementioned alternate head, along with two different sets of hands - closed and flat palm - and they swap with no issues. To add some more flair on the shelf, Chun-Li gets a effect piece to mimic her rapid kick special, with three semi-translucent motion blurs designed for her feet to fit into. Said effect has a base and arm that swivel at both ends in addition to getting two hinges in the middle. Not only does it help keep the effect on her, but it also gives her some support to stay upright when doing the pose. It's probably best you give her a foot peg or posing arm base to ensure she stays up, though. Leg-fused-to-crotch issue aside, Chun-Li is a great figure with a dead-on sculpt, plenty of useful articulation, and good enough accessories to add some personality to the shelf. I look forward to whatever else Jada has planned for this line, and I hope they branch into SFIII at some point; Ibuki and Remy would be great. - 10/14/23 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
