Lexington (Gargoyles (Neca)) Review
Lexington
Gargoyles (Neca) (Neca)Since the line began, NECA's been giving Gargoyles fans a healthy mix of characters, with both major and supporting players. It's taken them some time to get to everyone in the Manhattan clan, but now they've gotten to the last one needed: Lexington.

Lexington gets a smaller box than usual for this line, mainly because he's a smaller figure, but the artwork for it is great. It depicts the character in front of, or inside, what appears to be the clock tower where the Manhattan clan resides. On the inside, there's only two plastic ties holding in the figure, and there's a plastic cover keeping everything inside. Would be great if we could get that more often than tens of thousands of ties.

Like Brooklyn and Broadway before him, Lexington isn't as humanlike in his facial features as others such as Goliath and Demona are. His big eyes, underbite, and pointy ears make him look like a goblin to me, and he also bears big, blocky brows. The likeness is very accurate to the cartoon, provided once again by Djordje Djokovic. Also as per usual, Lex comes with both a neutral head and a blank-eyed roaring head. Although the heads look great and so does the olive green skin, the whites of the eyes and fangs could be a bit cleaner.

At 5 1/4" tall, Lexington is the smallest of the clan, but he has the same detailed musculature as the others, showing that's he still strong despite his scrawny size and build. He's not the first leaner character to get muscles like these; Brooklyn was, but with Lex, it looks nicer in my opinion. Unlike the other gargoyles' wings (save for Bronx, who has none), Lex's wings are attached to his arms and legs, much like a bat. Here, the wings are sculpted out of a softer plastic, so they won't get in the way of movement so much.
Lex has a loincloth and belt like most of the others, and the paint all around him is good, with plenty of wash and color mixing to help with his appearance. I feel the more realistic approach to these designs works great for the line, and it'll blend in more with your other figures than the simplistic, angular look of the show.

Lexington moves about the same as the other gargoyles, with barbell head and chest, swivel/hinge wings, shoulders, wrists, tail, knees, ankles, and toes, swivel biceps, waist, and thighs, double-hinged elbows, ball hips, and a bendy wire in the tail. All of the joints move fine, and you're not going to have any issues with balance like past figures due to the lack of giant wings, though one issue with him is that his right wing likes to pop out of the back. Lex gets a unique head joint designed to look up further, which is great for flying poses, and it makes me wish the other gargoyles had the same.

In another similarity to Brooklyn and Broadway, Lexington gets a weapon based off the Kenner line from the 90s, and in this case, it's a crossbow. The crossbow bears a medieval style to it, and there's four bolts (not arrows) to go with it. It can't fire anything like the Kenner figure, but it looks great with Lex. And since Lex is the clan's technology expert, he also gets a headset and a remote control, like one you'd use for a toy plane or car. The headset fits on Lex's heads with no issue, and the control is something you can easily give to anyone else in your collection. In addition to the extra head, Lex has six hands: a pair of clawing hands, a pair of fists, and two different grips for the crossbow and controller. The gripping hands both have vertical hinges, which make for good poses with his extras.

It's taken about two years for NECA to get every member of the Manhattan clan out, but Lexington is worth the wait, with a great sculpt and accessories. Not to mention it's nice to have a figure from this line that can actually stand up on its own. I'm happy to have finally completed the main crew, but there's still plenty of characters to look forward to.
