Biollante (Godzilla vs Biollante) Godzilla (Super7) (Super7)Throughout his many films, Godzilla has had a lot of adversaries to go up against, many of which have very cool designs. Not a lot of companies aside from Bandai and Trendmasters go beyond the big G, though, but Super7 joins them in giving equal focus to both him and the various kaiju, including Biollante. Considering how the BioGoji version of Godzilla was the first version of him to make it into "Ultimate" form, it's no surprise the big plant joins him, Most companies do Biollante's second, more monstrous form when doing figures of her, but Super7 chose to do her flower form instead, something that rarely gets made into plastic. Her head isn't anything complicated; it's just a rose with sharp teeth in the middle. It's a good rendition here, and the color of the flower is a bold red, but the teeth are pretty soft in appearance. Like Godzilla, she has both open and closed-mouth head options, giving you some way to change up her appearance. At around 8" tall, Biollante, like her adversary, suffers from a soft, glossy sculpt. Don't get me wrong, it's accurate to the film, but the details could've been made a lot sharper, and a matte coat would've certainly helped. She has six long vines on her body, posed in different ways, and two of them have venus flytrap-like jaws that hinge open and close, a good touch on S7's part. The body is hollow, not something you'd want on an $85 figure, but her "nucleus" encased inside is a softer material, which may be why that is. The colors are good, but affected somewhat by that aforementioned glossiness, and the paint lines are clean. Biollante moves quite different from your standard Ultimate, as her design somewhat restricts what articulation can be done for her. Her head is a barbell joint that gets some tilt, but not a ton, and the midsection has a single ball-peg with a bit of tilt and lean as well. The three large leaves are swivel/hinge joints, with the lowest one having a hinge that tilts up and down instead of in and out for some reason. They also tend of pop off a little easily, so be mindful of that. The vines all get swivel/hinge joints at the body, with the flytrap vine getting two additional swivel/hinges each, along with swivel heads and hinged lower jaws (which also swivel for some reason). I was under the impression that the vines would be bendable, but sadly that's not the case. They can be popped off the body, however, allowing you to swap them around, though one of the flytrap vines has a loose swivel at the body, likely because of this. While Godzilla didn't have much accessories, Biollante has less. She gets an open-mouth head, and the heads swap easily, but a third head with the rose closed, as how she first appeared on-screen, would've been great. She also has a pair of severed flytrap jaws. These plug into the vines through the swivel/hinge closest to it, and these stumps not only have joints of their own (but very tight ones), they're also designed to connect to the severed jaws. That said, these jaws have no articulation, just one sculpted open, and the other sculpted closed. So yeah, not much here, but at least what you get can add some variety to her appearance on the shelf. Overall, Biollante isn't that great. While the accuracy to film and how movement was handled deserves credit, the sculpt is soft, glossy, and hollow, which isn't good for a figure this pricey, and the vines really should've been bendable. She's also not much on her own, and if you decide to get her, you'll want to get Godzilla as well as both can make for great displays. In all seriousness, you're better off waiting for a sale on her, because $85 is too much for a figure like this. - 11/13/23 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
