Yakko Animaniacs (Super7) (Super7)Just last week, Big Bad Toy Store suddenly discounted a ton of Super7 Ultimates across multiple licenses, ranging from TMNT to Power Rangers to Silverhawks. Figures that usually cost $55 became as low as $19. Now is definitely a good time to grab all those figures you've been holding out on, I have, including the last Animaniacs figure I needed. As with the other figures, Yakko gets a solid plastic (I assume it's plastic) head, and the expression matches his siblings. It's okay, but the problem is that it's misshapen, appearing a bit wider than it should be. The head is also a little oversized in comparison to the body, bit more than how it was with Wakko and Dot. The alternate, open-mouth head looks nicer, but it too is a little too big. It also has a graduation cap, a little episode-specific detail, and while it's nice, I would've liked an open-mouth head without it. The paint is clean on both heads, aside from some uneven edges around the nose. Standing around 6 1/4" tall, Yakko wears nothing more but slacks with a belt, and this is where another problem with the sculpt arises. The pants seem to be a little lower on the body than they should, and it should've been closer to his chest. The colors on it are good, with clean paint for the belt, but I feel the pants should be slightly darker. Other small issues include fuzziness on the glove cuffs, and some paint clumping on the bottom of the feet. It's a decent sculpt, but it really could've been touched up by… well, a lot. Yakko moves the same as the others, with ball-jointed ears, head, waist, hips, and tail, and swivel/hinge shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees, and ankles. The joints move well aside from a little bit of tightness, but what surprised me is the waist. There's a lot of range in it - granted, it's mostly backwards lean, but it moves better than I thought. The legs are a little limited, as the hips can't go all the way out, and the ankles have very little hinge motion. Still, you'll be able to get some good poses out of him. You don't think of Animaniacs without thinking of “Yakko's World," so of course he gets a blackboard with a world map on it. It's the same blackboard Wakko has, but with a different sticker (and no looseness to the spinning board). Throw in the alternate head and pointer, and you can recreate the moment near perfectly. In addition to those, Yakko gets the same stick of dynamite and zig-zag tail as the other Warners, a "fun" bag, and seven hands - two relaxed, two splayed, a right grip for the bag, and two lefts for the dynamite and pointer. If there was room for more accessories, I would've like another head and a paddleball, but I can live with what's here. Yakko may have the weakest sculpt in the line, but he's still just as fun as the others, thanks to some useful articulation and accessories. I doubt we'll be getting more characters in this scale, meaning no hope of Slappy Squirrel or Chicken Boo, but the Warners and mice are really the only characters we need. - 11/14/23 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
