Lemmy Motorhead (Super7)Although the world of Super7's Ultimates is filled with nostalgic television and toy icons, there's been plenty outside of that realm as well, ranging from original properties to music legends. In the terms of music legends, we've gotten icons like Papa Emeritus and King Diamond, and one of the latest is the late Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead fame. Lemmy's box is primarily black, with a chain graphic around the window and big text on the back. The slipcover has a leathery look to it, bearing the "Snaggletooth" logo on the front. It's easy to remove everything inside the box, with only a single tie and a few bits of tape, and the speaker backdrop is pretty neat. I brought up in my Ultimate Notorious B.I.G. review that most of Super7's human likenesses are okay at best, but Lemmy is another figure that proves that when S7 actually puts effort into something, they can provide a spot-on likeness. Lemmy is accurate to the real deal, warts and all, and I mean that literally. His rocker hair is a softer plastic, and the facial hair could look a little better, but for this scale, it's good enough. Lemmy has three heads: one neutral, one with flowing hair and a somewhat irked expression, and one with reflective shades (you can actually see yourself in them!). The heads are fully painted, with mostly clean edges. Standing about 7" tall, Lemmy wears a sleeveless top with the Motörhead name and logo, but the special thing about it is that it's a piece of soft goods separate from the body. You can remove it to reveal painted and sculpted body hair underneath. It's a pretty neat feature, and I assume there's at least one person who wants to display him shirtless. As with the heads, the body seems to have a full coat of paint, with no glossiness like most Ultimates. The tattoos and rings have clean work and edges, but the belt has a lot of slop and bleed. If you can find this guy at your local comic/toy shop, you'll want to pay close attention to the paint on certain areas. The articulation of Lemmy is good, and actually a little better than usual for Ultimates. He has a head joint with a ball-peg going into the head, and a ring going into the neck. The ring can tilt forward and back and side-to-side, and the ball end has some good tilt, but I would've preferred a barbell joint. The swivel/hinge shoulders, elbows, and wrists work well, and there are swivel biceps necessary to natural-looking arm poses. The top conceals a ball chest with surprisingly good range, being able to roll all around. And as usual, there are swivel/hinge hips, knees, and ankles, along with swivels for the waist, thighs, and shins. The joints in the arms can be a little tight, but everything else moves just fine. Lemmy is well-outfitted with accessories, providing plenty of display options. He has three different heads that all look great, but you'll need heat to pop the extra ones on. His guitar is an important extra, and it looks great with the appropriate hands, but the strap is a little too long to hang off his shoulders. He also comes with a whiskey bottle (Motörhead brand, I guess) and a microphone. The microphone is tall and looks great, but it doesn't hinge anywhere despite the design; it's a solid piece. Plenty of interchangeable hands are packed in with Lemmy, with two pairs of grips (one horizontally hinged, another vertically hinged), a pair of fists, a pair for playing the guitar, a flipping-off right, and a cigarette-holding left. The hands swap with ease, and are useful for various poses. While not without issues, Lemmy is a figure worthy of the "Ultimates" moniker. He's rather well-made, and the various interchangeable parts and extras provide a lot of ways to show him off. Hopefully Super7 considers doing more band members, show fans of the band can have a proper group on the shelf. - 1/24/24 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
