Steelheart SilverHawks (Super7) (Super7)The first Super7 Silverhawks figure I got was Steelwill, my favorite of the heroes (well, next to Bluegrass), so it's only fitting the next good guy I get is his sister Steelheart. But to be honest, I only got her now because I was able to get her for pretty cheap. Thank you, Entertainment Earth, for also knowing Super7's stuff is overpriced. Steelheart has a great likeness, demonstrating that Super7 is better at doing realistic cartoon designs than real people. The face is accurate, and the eyes are very clean (they're probably printed on rather than painted), but her eyebrows should be a little thicker. The metal covering the rest of her hair is interesting, as it looks like hair. Either there is hair underneath, or she wanted to keep her style even after becoming a cyborg. She comes with a second head similar to the default portrait, but more determined-looking. I like this one more, but both heads should be more distinct from one another. The third portrait depicts her with her mask on, for flying through space like the rainbow in the night she is. Standing 6 1/2" tall, Steelheart has a pretty good body sculpt, with proper (and quite attractive, I might add) proportions. Her chest seems to be shifted back onto the body more than it should be, but that's more of an articulation issue than a sculpting one. Her mostly metal body is a bluer color than in the show, but it has a nice, metallic look, and the paint overall is very clean, which is important for such pricy figures like her. The main issue with the paint is her skin tone, as it's too pink, and should be more of a proper flesh tone. What holds back Steelheart from being an enjoyable figure is her articulation. She has the usual Ultimates articulation, with a barbell head, swivel/hinge shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles, swivel biceps, thighs, and feet, and ball-peg chest, and most of them move alright. The chest, however, does not, due to it having no tilt, being too far back on the body, and being floppy as well. The hips are also pretty useless, as her pelvis prevents them from kicking forward. They should've worked around the sculpt better to give us a full range of movement, because most of the other figures have equally poor chests, but at least they can achieve dynamic leg poses. I feel that Steelheart has everything she needs in terms of accessories, with plenty of extras to display her is various ways. The heads swap with a bit of force, as do her four sets of hands - open, gripping, closed, and saluting - and it would've been nicer if they popped in and out easier. As with most of the Hawks, she has an extra pair of winged arms with laser ports on the shoulders, and they swap easily while fitting in nicely. A pair of two piece laser effects are also included, as well as two versions of her fighting hawk, Rayzor - perched and flying. Both versions of Rayzor have great sculpts and paint, and have movement at the neck and hips. No thanks to off skin color, little range in the chest and hips, and difficulty swapping hands, Steelheart ended up being the weakest figure in the line. With a few adjustments, though, she could've turned out a lot better, but I'm just happy I got her for cheap, otherwise I'd be more bothered by the issues. There is a vac-metal Kenner-inspired version coming out soon, so that may be better, but I wouldn't hold out hope. - 2/26/24 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
