Write a Review link for that item. DC Super Heroes (Mattel) (Mattel)This Doomsday is a TREMENDOUS improvement over the original 5-inch scale version. It looks just as impressive but has more articulation and height, traits the old one lacked. This looks better to me than even the other 6-7-inch Doomsday, AKA: The-Ridiculously-Expensive version. Why pay over $100 for that other one when you can get this one for about 9 bucks! The Jagged Juggernaut stands a little over 6 1/2 inches, in perfect scale with ML figures, but I'm not so sure about the DCSH line he's in. Bizarro is taller than him, and last time I checked, Bizarro is as tall as Superman, and Superman is supposed to be smaller than Doomsday, something is screwy! In any case, Bizarro won't be standing for long if he tangles with this guy, hah. Doomsday is built like a rock, and weighs like one too. There isn't an ounce of fat on him and the wrinkles and scars in the skin make it look like it's tightly stretched across his muscles, ready to explode devastatingly. The biggest/sharpest jaggy bone protrusions are made of flexible rubber and look great! but they aren't painted too great. They're shaded to look more like ice than bone, so he looks like a frosty monster. Maybe if they were shaded with grey instead of light-blue the "bone" effect would have been more accurate. The small bone-spikes on his shoulders and fists are sculpted, so they are hard, but they aren't razor sharp so you don't have to worry about your kid getting mauled by his own toy. The green shorts and boots are seamed and wrinkled. Except for the toe/boot hinge and the single-hinged elbows-knees, Doomsday has the same articulation as a Marvel legends figure, he even has a mid-section hinge. The wrists aren't hinged either but they can swivel, which is more than enough articulation to punch-out Supes. The left shoulder-hinge won't work on my figure but it will still move up and down. Some of the little shoulder-spikes limit movement. The left foot, for some insane reason, is sculpted to stand at an angle, which is extremely annoying because the other foot is made for a normal standing position. The ankles are hinged, but they aren't rocking so there is no easy way to fix this problem. Also, it's a good idea to add the peg-holes in the bottom of the shoes of the heavier figures like this, but Doomsday doesn't have any...if the hip joints ever get loose, then you're pretty much screwed (unless you go read the joint-tightening tutorial on this very site :D ). I'm not sure what other stuff came in the package with this monstrosity, since I get my figures loose, but whatever it might be, it pales in importance compared to Doomsday. And now for a Disclaimer: I have no idea whether those jaggy-bone-looking things on Doomsday are actual bones or are just a sort of exoskeleton, I make up most of the stuff in these reviews as I go along, so please, no hate-mail :]   by Henchmen4Hire |
