Optimus Prime Transformers - Classics (Hasbro)Having never gotten into the Transformers craze is something I now regret. Any TF I now see that I like costs me some major cash to get. Luckily there are some still decent people in the world who are willing to help new fans, like me, get some info and get my hands on these little pieces of history (and in some cases HUGE pieces!) This being my first TF review, you'll have to forgive any odd/inaccurate terms I use, like calling a Power Matrix the "shiny doo-hickey". Optimus Prime stands ready for battle at over 6 1/2 inches tall (fully transformed). Out of all the Primes I saw, I think this one looks best. He has a sleek look while the others I've seen look much bulkier. Now, I'm not sure what the color scheme is SUPPOSED to look like, but I think this looks pretty good. Maybe a little more silver or black paint could be added to the little details like hoses and pipes, and maybe the grey areas would look better metallic like the laser cannon (but considering this is a figure designed for constant repositioning, maybe the less paint there is to get damaged, the better). I'm a sucker for transparent pieces so I like how his eyes are clear blue. If there is light behind him the eyes will shine with all the pride of a great Autobot leader. The guns Optimus has are awesome! Especially the Ion Cannon (transforms from the wind vane) because he can use it as a hand-gun or shoulder-cannon in robot-mode and as an anti-aircraft weapon in either mode! (although the package doesn't show it, refer to the gallery pictures on this site to see how to attach the cannon). The smaller laser gun is made from the smoke-stacks and looks just as great. Transforming Optimus to either mode is amazingly simple, the large poster included shows you the few easy steps so you'll be changing him by memory in no time. You can't really appreciate what a magnificent feat of engineering a Transformer toy is until you actually have one in your hands, simply awesome! They have an amazing amount of dexterity for something that starts out as a car, and they're damn good-looking vehicles too. They look like real cars, trucks, planes, tanks and all look even better in robot-mode, but I will complain about Optimus's hands, they definitely need a swivel so you don't have to turn his entire arm to make the hand move. I like the head though, even though it isn't a ball-joint it can still turn to face any direction. All the joints are tight, but whether that will be true a few transformations from now we'll have to leave for time to tell. Notes: The Optimus on the package is a little different from the one you actually get. The knee-guards that flip up are inverted in the picture, meaning the yellow square on the actual toy appears when it's flipped up, not when it's down like in the picture. The grey areas on the toy (crotch, arms, bumper, etc.) look metallic on the package but they aren't on the toy. Also, the heat-activated Autobot symbol is actually on his lower right-side door, not the upper left-side the package shows. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thats Tankor, which is still my favorite
Yeah find those missles, never know when you''ll need em!
(this gives me an excuse to look for all those damn missiles that kept getting away...)
There are still some of them on the pegs at TRU (or were they re-released?) but they''re all Optimus Monkey and dino-Megatron
I happened to hit the trend when the series came out(to the extent of buying some of the episodes...) so I was bombarded with them for Christmas and my Birthdays
Do you have a Silverbolt? xD
Just two more TFs, I swear! I can quit whenever I want to!
I saw the red Jeep guy at TRU (Rollbar?) but slapped my hand away...
As far as the jointsgo they very seldomly wear out. Weak joints was a problem for the first couple of G1 and G2 series but has since been dealt with. Prime will probably have tight joints when you and I don''t
