DC Super Heroes (Mattel) (Mattel)Have any of the people sculpting the DCSH figures ever even SEEN Supergirl? Are they sculpting blind? Did the boss's son sculpt her head and everyone is too afraid to tell them "It sucks"? That's the only plausible scenario I see for the face on this figure. It's the same head as the previous Supergirl in this line but with different hair. Supergirl does not look 40 years old. Supergirl does not wear so much makeup. Supergirl does not have ashy-tan skin. Someone get this message to the proper parties. Although, if this Supergirl was based on the new scantily-clad anorexic one appearing in the comics, then okay, I can see the resemblance, good job guys! :)

Enough about the face and skin, on to the rest! Supergirl stands about 5.75 inches tall, in-scale with the other DCSH figures. Normally, seeing many variations of a figure is annoying, but it's a good thing they made the blue-suit Supergirl because I was tired of hearing people complain about the lack of it. The long-sleeve shirt and bulky skirt are dark-blue with yellow trim. The sleeves have tiny wrinkles in the right places and make the skin-tight shirt look real. The boots are painted a dark flat-red and also have yellow trim. They look nice with some wrinkles at the ankles and a soft matte finish. The flexible cape is the same dark color. The flowing hair would look really nice if this weren't a mass-produced toy. It starts off as a light-brown plastic then they try to dry-brush some yellow onto it, but since they don't have a lot of time to be painting this, the yellow is sloppy and muddles the detail of the strands of hair. Oh well.

Supergirl has the articulation the previous one did but lost the swivel in the calves. There's just no way to add it without ruining the neatness of the boots. The neck is a ball-joint and the upper-body can turn. The hands can turn at the wrists but they are very dainty, be careful you don't tear the hand off completely when you try to turn it.

I was just looking at Black Arachnis''s... s cast heads and thought that the Fathom head would be a perfect mod for this figure if you really wanted to capture the look the artist went with.

I am still hunting this figure down she looks awesome. However Doc she may not be the Old school supergirl that died in Crisis. Who had a distinctlivly different look. Nor is she the Alien (non Kryptonian) replacement that was in the cartoon and in a short lived comic series of her own (sprouting wings and turning into an angel)who also looked different. But she''ll go in my collection as the hottest Sg ever. And she looks just like the new (finally has a real purpose to kill her cousin Superman) Sg in her own series on shelves everywhere. As soon as I can I am buying like 4 of her.

Yep, I figure they based her looks on the comics, I''m used to the cartoon Supergirl which is why I like the DC Direct - Superman Series version a lot more. This one has great articulation though....time to swap heads

the head is a new sculpt, and pretty hot . i dont know if you have ever seen kara in the comics, but thats how she looks. the four horsemen (the sculpters) just added a bit of there own style.
