Viral Unit Cyber Units (McFarlane)There are so many great things to say about McFarlane's line of figures. Great characters, beautiful sculpts, and insane amounts of detail are just a few, but the huge drawback of all this goodness is the almost non-exsistant articulation. Why do so many people have a problem with this? Because McFarlane calls them ACTION FIGURES, not statues. Why not just call them what they are, mini-statues, goddess knows these figures are already priced like statues. Luckily, once in a blood-moon, McFarlane decides to make authentic action figures, with all the articulation we could ask for to get great action-poses. I buy random figures all the time, mostly as fodder for my customs, but McFarlane's stuff demands to be left alone. The figures are just so perfect that to chop them up for fodder is a crime (but we still do it anyway :P ). These Cyber Units are a perfect example of the awesomeness a little articulation adds to McFarlane's figures, even if this were statue-esque, the robotic super-details would make up for it! The movable parts: -Head turns side-to-side, it's limited because it's encased in the armor. -Arms have a full range of motion, and they're click joints!, but they do wear-out easily due to the armor's weight. -The elbows are hinged and can also turn, the hands and wrists can do the same! -Upper-body can turn side-to-side, but becomes loose after a while due to weight. -The legs can move like the arms, they also become loose pretty quickly despite being click-joints. The armor is incredibly detailed, futuristic, and insect-like, resembling plates scalloped on top of each other. It's mainly metallic-blue with some buttons and insignias painted-on. The large shoulder-pads severely limit arm-movement but they are flexible (for some poseability) and easily removable. There are a few perfect little holes scattered through-out the armor, as if there were supposed to be some other accessory there, but there aren't, I bought mine MIP and there was nothing more than two removable masks and the projectile that shoots out of the right arm (and oh man is it painful when it hits!). The masks are extremely difficult to "clip-on" to the small insect-like head. The small round helm is passable, but the big scary bug-helmet is nearly impossible to clip-on securely. Why did I buy this figure? Because it's a giant scary-bum 7-inch mecha-insect, the wow-factor is off the scale! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
