Thor (Marvel Legends (Hasbro)) Review
Thor
Marvel Legends (Hasbro) (Hasbro)I know, I'm almost broke and here I am buying more toys to review. Like you wouldn't buy a Thor figure at first sight! Pfft!

The Odinson towers at 7 inches tall. According to the package, he's supposed to be 6-foot 6-inches, which means he's supposed to be 6.5 inches, so technically he's half an inch too long, but when was the last time a guy complained about that, right? Moving on...Thor is muscle yearning to explode in a berserker's fury restrained only by scale-armor and silvered chains...and stretchy pants. Really though, who made his suit, the poor guy doesn't have a zipper or any laces to undo for when he must succumb the Call of the Nature. The folds in the pants are great though, they definitely add to the realism. The attention to detail overall is spectacular, it's just too bad Hasbro refuses to authorize the use any more paint than they absolutely have to. The details are muddled by the monotonous color-casted plastic. The Helmet and chains are silvered though, and the belt, necklace, and leg-straps are actually painted golden. Again, it's too bad the boots aren't painted golden as well, they're just made of a dirty-yellow plastic. The large axe and trusty Hammer suffer the same fate; sweet detail, no paint. Bummer. The face is great, depending on the paint-job, Thor wil either have an intense glare or a wild look in his eyes. Yes, the entire face and neck ARE painted! And they look freaking great! Why doesn't Hasbro paint the whole darn figure! The paint they use is almost indestructable, it's almost like they dye the plastic so the paint never chips-off, it's awesome! But they just don't get it...The fingers aren't hinged but they bend easily enough to silp-in the weapons. Thor has a removable red, fur-collared cape that limits the head movement, so does his long hair.

Most of the joints are click-joints because the figure is so heavy and needs the extra-sturdy joints. The first thing I noticed though was that the legs and upper-body were very loose, maybe just a defect on my figure. The elbows are annoying. They are single-hinged and don't even bend 90-degrees! They're just awful, I suggest replacing the arms with another figure's. The wrists are hinged and swiveled, but the hinges can't be used anyway because the bracelets block their use; the wrists can only turn, not bend.

Thor definitely needs a repaint. The shoulder-pads are supposed to be silver (not blue), the wrists-bands need a black stripe (again, not blue), and the hair, boots, and weapons all need the details brought-out so you'll have your work cut-out for you if you want to make him comic-book accurate. I'm glad I found this guy at retail price because he's more expensive online (scalpers). Try Fry's Electronics, Rite Aid, and Big Lots, many of them are carrying Marvel Legends figures now, new and old!

The reason I contemplated was because, I was planning on getting, and did get Guitar Hero II, and I didn''t want to spend more than that. I did get a pretty good deal on GH2 though, although it was used, I got it used with used wireless controller for $65 at GameStop when new with wired controller was $70, and new without guitar is $40 and new wireless is $60.

You contemplated getting Thor!? Blasphemy! You should have planted your flag into the sticky plastic floor and decreed the whole aisle was now in your possession

They just finally got wave 2 at my Wal-Mart and I was contemplating getting him, since they had only one, but I figured that I''d think about it and went to the electronics dept. and I was looking around there for awhile and a guy with a Venom shirt came into the electronics dept. and was carrying the Thor.
