Bumblebee (Transformers - Movie) Review
Bumblebee
Transformers - Movie (Hasbro)Float like a butterfly, stings your wallet!

Before he came to Earth, Bumblebee could have cared less about his appearance, as long as his alternate mode kept him hidden and his plasma cannon protected, he was content.
But now, on Earth, he has found friendship for the first time in as long as he could remember in the person of Sam Witwicky.
At Sam's urging, he scanned a sweet new vehicle form.
Now, he's still ready to fight to the end against the evil Decepticons, but he sure hopes nothing bad will happen to his paint job.

That's not actually what happened in the movie, however, what actually happened was that Sam's girlfriend, Mikaela or whatever her name is offended Bumblebee by saying that "If he's an alien robot, why does he transform into a piece of crud car Camaro?"
So, Bumblebee (let's call him BB for short) went riding sideways down the road until he found another car, which was coincidentally, also a Camaro.

Whew.

Let's get on with the review here...

This Transformer is quite a difficult little bugger the first couple of times you transform him, of course, my not buying Transformers for 3 years didn't help either, but after quite a couple of tries, he's as easy as Leader class Optimus Prime from the Armada series.
The way you transform him from a sweet little car to a awesome looking robot is, You first gotta open the doors, it may take a bit of force, since the peg connecting the door to the car is still in there pretty hard, when you get the doors open, pull 'em, and the entire rim and wheels will come off with it. You don't do much with this for a while, then you pull apart the roof, which will not take quite as much force as the doors did, then the roof will reveal the arms, pull them out to the side and flip over the roof, making the arms actually look like arms.
Then, comes the hard part. It won't be as hard for you to do, as hard as it will be for me to explain, but here goes.
You push down the front windshield,so it touches, when it's finished, BB's rear, then push the arms even more out to the side, just enough to let the roof fold over the chest.
When you get it pulled down, don't do anything to the peg that's jutting outta the chest, that's only for keeping it car mode, then, push the foldable peg (which used to be part of the hood) up to the lower back of the neck, and that'll keep the chest on the front.
Next, you pull up the doors, you've probably seen the image ad the back of the card so, just follow that, then, fold the doors out so they look like wings, then push up the two sides of the grill, so you got that complicated looking thing for the chest.
And that's it! You're done the upper half of the body.
For the lower legs, just pull them apart, and the cannon/laser knife will fall out, don't be worried, you didn't break anything, then just pull up part of the rear tire's rim, slide the feet down, and that'll complete it.

My instructions maybe be really long, but follow them in any order, by that I mean sart with the legs first, or whatever, just make sure that you open the doors first.
These'll probably be one of the most definitive instructions you'll find on the web, since the instructions that come with the toy are worthless. They point out the main parts and all, but the little details that'll leave you feeling stumped are all up there in my instructions.

You're probably tired of reading just about now, so I'll make the following parts somewhat quicker.
The sculpt on vehicle mode is great, really looks like the car they used in the movie, and the "Camaro" sign is sculpted just above the wheels. The grill and the front of the car are the most realistic and awesome pieces I've ever seen, it really looks like part of a real car.
So, if the sculpt on the car is good, then that must mean the robot's sculpt is even better!
Well it is.
For those of you thinking that I was gonna throw in some sarcastic comment like "Well, you're wrong", well, you're wrong! Hehe. All humor aside, the sculpt on the robot is way better than almost all of the other Transformers I have, and this is probably cause it's from the movie line.
The sculpt can go neck to neck with just about any Transformer out there, so that says something about how great this figure is.
The face is sculpted awesomely, for such a tiny little head, it has one of the most complex sculpts ever seen on such a small toy, but you can't really tell, 'cause the paint is blocking it.
All the robotic detail are done great too, but you can't really tell from afar, because of the solid black paint on the limbs.
By the way, it also has a tiny little Chevy logo on it's grill and it looks great. Aside from being a potenial advertisement, it adds all the more to the figure.
The pain is where I have some beef with Hasbro and TakaTomy.
In car mode, it looks great, but when you transform it to robot mode, you'll see that most of it's parts are black, solid black.
but it's not really a big deal, since it does look kind of cool in black.
The yellow parts are not just plain yellow, like Armada's Hotshot, which was just a flat yellow, with almost absolutely no textures, unlike this one, where it has lots of shadowing on the yellowish orange paint, the windshields are semi-translucent, which looks better than a plain plastic piece.

The poseabilty is great, has about 20 points of articulation, has movement similar to Marvel Legends, so it was quite surprising to see a transformer having that much movement.

The accessory is just a black cannon. Or is it just a cannon?
No, it's also a blue laser sword!
Flip of the cannon parts, and a gear operated translucent blue dagger will pop up.

All in all, this is a great Transformer, and definitely worth buying.
Only if you're not afraid to shell out about 20 bucks more than normal retail price.

Thanks for reading!
