King Peter (Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian) Review
King Peter
Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian (Jakks Pacific)Left for dead in the depths of space, Megatron was found the Wicked God Unicron and made a pact signed in hydrolic fluid. He would receive a new, more powerful body in return for one simple deed; the destruction of the Matrix of Leadership! Revived as the powerful Galvatron, the Decepticon War Lord sets out on a path of death and destruction!

The minute I gazed this psychotic beauty, I new I had to get it. Galvatron was originally designed as a Ultra class toy, but was downgraded to a Deluxe due to the presence of a tank-like Transformer in the Ultra Class for that wave, and it shows. Galvatron has a tone of lost potential and needless kibble.

Transformed "properly" his right cannon arm can't move all the way up due to his backpack made from the tank modes rear sides, so you actually have to mistransform him for a full range of motion. The head is nicely done, but the connection keeping it raised in robot mode is very finich-y, so don't be surprised if it drops down.

The legs are the worst. During transformation from either mode, don't be surprised if they pop apart due to turning them in the wrong direction which isn't even specified effectively in the rather poor direction sheet. Balance is also and issue with his feet rather lacking and relying on the extensions on the back of his legs to stand properly.

Galvatron's tank mode is actually very good. Modeled after a Merkava MK3 tank, he is supremely detailed and looks very realistic. You know, save for the massive translucent orange gun barrel. See those every day. The turret has Galv-25 painted on both sides to represent Galvatron's name and the 25th anniversary of the Transformers Franchise. A translucent orange missile can be inserted into the barrel and fired with a press of a button on the gun and gets some good distance.

Oddly enough, the wheels that allow him to roll on smooth surfaces are painted safety orange and are made of...orange plastic. Yeah, I don't get it either. A third, unadvertised mode is either supposed to be a walking tank ala Metal Gear or an artillery emplacement. There are a number of different forms that people of come up with and posted on the web, but they share the same distinction. They look utterly ridiculous.

Over all, Galvatron gets three stars out of five. A toy with a lot of potential that was ruined due to executive meddling.

I could tolerate a lot if he was just the right size. Classics Megatron is larger than Galvatron and that is backwards.

Yeah, I was kinda excited when I first heard they were making Galvatron, but then was massively disappointed when they showed him.
