Autobot Hound with Ravage (G1 Series) (Transformers - Universe 2008) Review
Autobot Hound with Ravage (G1 Series)
Transformers - Universe 2008 (Hasbro)At first, I was very unsure if I was going to purchase Hound when he was announced. Then Hasbro decided to punch me in the stomach and forced my hand by including a new Ravage toy with Hound. Oh, you are the tricky ones Hasbro. First, we'll start with Hound. Hound transforms from a stubby, big footed robot into an Army Jeep. The transformation is simple, but with enough of a challange to it so it doesn't get boring. The Holo-Gram gun can be mounted on the back of ether chair in vehicle mode and holds pretty tight.

The arms remind me some of the Starscream mold only retooled some. Maybe a caqouincidence, maybe not. The grill pops off easily so don't worry too much about it breaking. The Holo-Gram gun can be mounted on either shoulder, but it doesn't hold very well. Some modification to the back of the shoulders could potentially fix this. The gun can also be held in either hand without need for modification. His articulation is pretty basic but still good and leaves me satisfied.

The paint is good and the star is straight and their are no visible runs or drips.

Now on to the reason why I bought him: Ravage! This is the first original mold Ravage has had since his inital conception with the other figures being redecos of Cheetor. Ravage retains his micro-casset alt. mode that can still fit into Generation 1 Soundwave's chest, so you won't need the Soundblaster figure to store him. Ravage's transition from a thin, but well articulated for the era, panther into a three-dimensional form doesn't come without some drawbacks. The front legs can't move at the shoulders and his head looks like it would be at home on Laserbeak due to it being designed to lock into his underbelly for transformation. The twin boosters/missle's are sculpted onto the top of his hind legs as tiny little things, but he can still be equipped with the original Ravages rockets/boosters.

Over all Hound and Ravage get a combined score of five stars out of five.
